Hopefully a solution for a SKINNY dog

My 16 mo ALD had to be shaved down for matting :-( and after we picked her up we were shocked to see how skinny she is.  She is 32 lbs but was also 32 lbs at 7 months.  So despite growing taller and longer she is the same weight.  Also, she is an unspayed female.  So off to the vet we went and had several hundred dollars worth of blood, poop and urine tests....all normal.  So we are doubling her feeding.  She was on 1 cup of TOTW twice a day, now 2 cups twice a day.  Also, I made a gigantic batch of Satin Balls and am adding about 1/3 cup of that to her chow.  Hopefully she will gain weight and look and feel better in a few weeks. I feel badly about having "underfed" her for so long.  She has had normal poops and normal energy all along.   Totally missed it.

What recipe of Satin Balls do you use?  Toby has NO issues with weight, other than the fact that he should lose a few pounds, but my son's girlfriend's dog seriously needs to put some weight on.  Like yours a healthy dog, but way too skinny.

There are a number of sites with the recipe but this is the one I used.  You seriously need a huge container to make it in.  I didn't want to give huge amounts of it to her all at once (might mess with her GI system) so I scooped small balls onto a cookie sheet with layers of waxed paper between and froxe them, then I will put them in freezer bags. It makes ALOT!

You might Google the recipe. One site had a recipe for a smaller amount......1pound hamburger not 10. Also, give a small amount and perhaps increase the kibble. My pups poops are getting softer every day......but still too soon to see weight change.
