Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone, my 4 months old mini golden doodle puppy Joy is beginning to loose her baby teeth and it seems like she is in pain. She stays low at energy and sleeps more than usual. My major concern is that she is loosing appetite and is not interested in eating her kibble which she willingly use to eat and get excited for just a week ago. I tried to soften her kibble by adding some warm water and mixing in her favorite soft treats, but she just picks out treats from the bowl and leaves out the rest. Do you guys have any suggestions on how i can help her eat or like her kibble ?  (I feed her orijen puppy formula and switch it sometimes with wellness core puppy formula).

I needed this dose of cute!

First, make sure that her adult teeth are not coming in in the same spaces as any of her baby teeth. That can cause pain and reluctance to eat. It's called retained deciduous teeth and it's very common in Poodles and doodles.
Next, 4 months is about the time that many puppies' growth and appetites slow down; it's when we usually change them to two meals a day instead of three, and it's very common for them to start being less interested in their meals. So if you're still feeding 3 times a day, switch to two, and check the feeding guidelines for her current weight and age; she may not need as much food as she's been getting.
A normal healthy dog won't starve herself. I wouldn't be too concerned about that; in fact, to me, the sleeping and low energy is more of a concern.
It might not be a bad idea to have the vet take a look at her, just to be sure everything (including teething) is okay.

I completely agree with Karen.
