Weruva dog food

Our wonderful Scrabble, an ALD has successfully transitioned to Wellness Simple Solutions from prescription dog food, thanks to Karen and her patience, kindness and vast knowledge. However, I still add boiled chicken to his food, because I had been doing that to supplement the WD. He inspects the bowl to make certain it is there. :-)) Question. When we travel for weeks with our dogs, it is hard to keep the chicken safely cold. Our local pet store recommended Weruva canned chicken for dogs. I am very reluctant to try it as it is sourced and canned in Thailand. Is anyone familiar with this company? I am so fussy with their food, using organic, anti biotic free chicken etc, I am a bit nervous about this food.

You are right to be nervous about the food; if it were acceptable, we'd have included it on our recommended brands list.

There are all kinds of canned dog foods, including a canned version of the Simple Solutions formula you're already feeding. It makes no sense for the store clerk to recommend a canned Weruva product. 

I recommend that you just buy the canned version of your Simple Solutions formula, but if that doesn't work, there is a new line of foods called Wild Calling that I'm very excited about, and they have canned meats designed for just what you want, to use as toppers to entice a dog to eat. There just happens to be a chicken version. :) Here's a link:

Karen! Just what I thought. Thank you! I noticed there is chicken liver in the Wild Calling. Do you think he could digest that easily?

I'd have to look back at past discussions to remember what kind of digestive issues he's had in the past, lol. Normally, it shouldn't be a problem. I was thinking in terms of just adding a spoonful or two as a topper; how much boiled chicken are you adding to meals?

Okay, so I just looked back at the past discussion about Scrabble's digestive issues, and I'm thinking you might want to just try the Simple canned food as a topper. The Wild Calling should be fine, but with his history, we really don't want to take chances.
