You are right to be nervous about the food; if it were acceptable, we'd have included it on our recommended brands list.
There are all kinds of canned dog foods, including a canned version of the Simple Solutions formula you're already feeding. It makes no sense for the store clerk to recommend a canned Weruva product.
I recommend that you just buy the canned version of your Simple Solutions formula, but if that doesn't work, there is a new line of foods called Wild Calling that I'm very excited about, and they have canned meats designed for just what you want, to use as toppers to entice a dog to eat. There just happens to be a chicken version. :) Here's a link:
I'd have to look back at past discussions to remember what kind of digestive issues he's had in the past, lol. Normally, it shouldn't be a problem. I was thinking in terms of just adding a spoonful or two as a topper; how much boiled chicken are you adding to meals?
Okay, so I just looked back at the past discussion about Scrabble's digestive issues, and I'm thinking you might want to just try the Simple canned food as a topper. The Wild Calling should be fine, but with his history, we really don't want to take chances.
