Hi Everyone,

My doodle is around 8 months old and I have been giving a lot of thought to him becoming  a therapy dog.  I am wondering if anyone out there recommends a good program here in Canada?

I think you will have to nose around and find out what testers are in your area. Locally we have a TDI tester so that is who we went with. St. John's ambulance also certifies dogs locally however, they in turn schedule your visits for you.

I'm sorry I can't help you but do hope you are able to find a therapy dog group in your area!  When you do, please pass along the information.

Hi - depending on your area..in BC - two groups have pet therapy programmes - Pets and Friends has been providing pet therapy for over 30 years in Vancouver and the lower mainland..to over 240 facilities and hospitals. Have been very involved with them for 14 years. St. John's Ambulance also does a similar programme.  Check out the website Pets and Friends..it will give you a little insight as to what a screener is looking for when the dog is being screened for temperament and suitability for the pet therapy programme.
