While reading about Sophie's flyball class, I thought about this article I recently read.  I thought it was interesting because it emphasized consistency, not style of training.

I also liked it because I'm a strong believer of humans respecting dogs, not necessarily the other way around.

I like this article and I agree with what he is saying. I believe that after food, water, and shelter, what every dog needs most is know what is expected of him and what he can expect from you.

I totally agree that it's important that we respect our dogs, but I do also believe that our dogs need to see us as leaders.  The debate about whether or not they need a "pack leader" will go on and on, but I do believe they need to know that their human "has their back".  If they don't feel that's the case, they'll try to take on that job themselves....and that's where so many of the bad behaviors start.

I agree, and I've seen this with JD.
