When will the piddling stop?!?!

Tess is a 15 week old ALD and has been making it through the night since her forth night home. She loves everyone, but starts to piddle when they start looking at her and go in for the greet and scratch. She will have a few small drops even if she has just gone and a puddle if it been a hour or more. Since she keeps wiggling, rolling over, and then standing back up in it, this can be quite a mess. Do they all do this? and is there anything we can do? Our trainer at her puppy class brought this up the first night and advised us to ignore her till she calms down, she just waited and piddled then.

Bev, my little guy did that also, he just got so excited...it all stopped once he got neutered.   It is just all excitement and being so young they just let it fly!!!

Cloe is two years old now and still does this. Sorry ut I think it's a poodle thing. She does try not to because she will stop to lick herself. But if over excited to see you or someone else all pee breaks loose

Great! Our last dog was a Cocker Spaniel, and he did this too but not anywhere near as much or as often. Tess does this for everyone with gusto!!!!!!

Guinness did this too as a puppy whenever he got overly excited.  He's two now and it hasn't happened for quite some time.  I'm not sure that there's an actual training answer other than to just control the level of excitement as much as possible.

Thanks...Tess does this for every family member and strangers too, many times a day! Thank goodness are floors are all laminate or we would be in big trouble :)

Bev, Cooper did this too when he was younger anytime he met someone new (or someone he didn't remember meeting before.)  Our vet said it was just because everything is so exciting to puppies that they just can't help it sometimes.  He said that it would eventually stop (which it did) as Cooper got older and stopped being so excited every time he met someone new.

It helps to know this is quite normal. Tess LOVES everyone so it's happening alot!!! :)

My puppy does this too. She is a little over 6 months and was spayed 2 weeks ago but so far the piddling goes on. What helps is not to bend over to greet her when she comes running up to us when we get home. Have her sit until she's a little calmer and then bend down to greet. This works most of the time.
