Thanks so much Erica, I am deeply appreciative. Email would probably be best. Again thank you!

So true! Lucky me though because I get to keep snuggling until 10/18 so that his new family can get a planned trip in first without sending him for boarding. Hopefully Karen will pop in soon.

I would also like to tell you to be on the look out for Lauren in Orlando who has Hershey. I noted she arrived on doodlekisses today. Hopefully she will pop in here soon as well : )

I cannot tell all of you how grateful I am that you have this place to come together and meet across the boundaries of distance. And of course truth told ~ I love hearing about your doodles and peeking at pictures : )

On that note we are diligently working on our tails from home page. If any of you might consider jotting a quick note about your doodle to place there for viewing I would be most appreciative.

Hello! Did anyone happen to see that Ayce and the Johnson Family are currently featured members? Awesome pic, but we know that is just the appetizer ~ when will dinner be served?

Congrats!

Zeke really does look just like his mama! Bisbee starts "school" on the 29th. We are going for private lessons cuz "we" need some one-on-one. He is great at home, listens and is so smart, but once we leave the house......Yikes. We ran some errands yesterday (loves to take rides), bank, post office, and one being, pick up some litter for the Mac (cat) at PM. Well, oh my gosh, Bisbee is so "sweet" he just had to jump on everyone within (and out) his reach. While I am checking out, my arm and wallet went one way and the litter the other and Bisbee is "busy" greeting everyone in line behind me... they, of course, are just loving him right back. We need help. He is a puller too. When I was talking to the trainer she suggested a head collar. So, I researched online and found a few, one being the Halti which attaches under the chin much like a horse halter, but I thought that might hurt his neck (when he does his twirls) so I ordered the Canny Collar (UK) it attaches behind the neck. Will let you know how it works. More later....

Hi Everyone! Have been reading all the updates on the group and thought you might like to hear some about Zeke. Last Sat. I took him and my 6 yr. old grandson to a small dog fair in our area. Had a great time seeing all the other dogs (about 100) but it was like having 2 6 yr. olds misbehaving. Zeke has definately gotten over his shyness in meeting other dogs. He nearly pulled my arm off trying to meet each and every one. Clint on the other hand was pulling to get away from some of them and get to the playground. These two are great friends, in fact my husband and I interchange their names often. Their personalities are so similar, curious, mischievious, a little head strong, very cuddly, and can melt your heart with their eyes. As you can tell discipline is a challenge. As to Zeke's discipline, in his obedience class it was recommended to try "pinch" collar to curb his pulling. I worked like a charm! Took him for a walk in our local park which is wooded, many deer, squirrels, and bicycles. He did wonderful, this will be a staple of all our outings for a while. They look like tourture devices but are actually very gentle and effective. To those of you who are also having trouble with pulling I can highly recommend this collar. Bye for now.

Nancy,
They do have lapses in potty training...the thing with Tanner...he never tells me when he has to go..? My other doodle will go to the back door and stand there when she has to go..but, Tanner doesn't. I just usually take him out every 30 minutes or, so...and, sometimes he goes, and sometimes he doesn't go. Today he was playing in the house with Kodie...and walked over to my new rug, and went a river...! I had NO idea he even had to go.....it's frustrating at times..
Tanner drinks a lot also...I have a pool, and they love the pool water...so, I find myself monitoring his pool water intake....so, he doesn't drink SO much.
I'm going to work on the stairs...he is just too heavy! He was nearly 35 lbs a couple weeks ago...so, I know he must be close to 40 lbs by now.
It's just another day in Doodle Paradise....

Thanks for the Welcome and well, Bisbee is hopefully not HUGE, just the picture I think. We had vet appt yesterday and he weighed-in at 31 lbs. We were I thought completey potty trained and taken a step back (?) not sure why, could be my fault as he drinks a lot of water at one time and about 1 - 1 1/2 hr later I had better be watching....Bisbee didn't know what stairs were either, so first night I carried him up and down. Second night I said, No way Jose....so I put him on my lap three steps up then push him off onto the step beside me, I walked down the steps and waaa laaa so did Bisbee then it became a game (I moved up to step 4) and now he chases the cat up and down. He has slept through from day one in crate in upstairs bedroom, a wimper or two at the beginning and now pure zzzzzzzzz. The bell training is a concern ... I think I might prefer a bark because the bells are downstairs and in the morning if he needs to go while I am showering, etc., I think I might prefer a bark. I have noticed he will look at the door and then when it connects to my brain I run! We ring the bell and out the door we go. I need a better robe for this....

Tanner is about 95% potty trained now..! Thank goodness....Ever since I have him he has slept through the night....I just wish I could get him to walk down the stairs. He is getting to big, and heavy to keep carrying down the stairs. At night he sleeps in his crate upstairs in my bedroom, then in the morning I have to pick him up and haul him downstairs for his morning pee-pee...but, boy...it's starting to hurt my back. I think I will work on a few stairs a day.....

Welcome Nancy and Bisbee! What a cute name and what a cute dog. Like you I'm amazed at how smart our dogs. It's really fun to hear about everyone, how they are progressing, what they are eating, and to help each other solve the occasional problem. Enjoy! Susan and Zeke
