Welcome Bisbee and Nancy! So, this is the infamous black puppy...what a cutie!
I have Trinity's Gator...a sweet little cream colored guy...we call him Tanner, or Tannie, or sweet cheeks, or fluff ball...etc...
I'm glad you have join our little cozy group..we can keep in touch, and watch our babies grow...!

Hi all, I realize we're a little late in joining the Group but here we are. As you can see Bisbee is the black pup in Ms. Ella's litter and what a joy he is. We are learning to ring the bell to "outside" and I am amazed at what a quick study he is. Now on to the food discussion. We have decided to stay with Evangers as our dry and maybe add Blue Buffalo as our wet mix. But, Dianne has done so much research (and much appreciated!) we will probably go with her picks. Well, we're off, but just want to say. . .
HI from Bisbee to his litter mates.

Dear Dianne, Thanks for the good advice about the foods. I value your opinion greatly and admire your dedication to continued development of this beautiful breed. I'll certainly look into some alternative foods, especially if Canidae has lost your confidance. What do you think about Origen?

Susan ~
If Zeke is doing well on Canidae, keep him there. It is a good food. My position is one of ethics, I did not approve of how their formula change was put into place. I do think it is always a good idea to be aware of what else is out there and even change food up once in a while. Heaven forbid there ever be another massive upheaval in the pet food industry, armed with knowledge you will have created options for yourself. Forgive me as I get a bit over board on some of these issues, but I do take it very seriously and need to for the sake of our breeding program.

Canidae has also switched their production to a Diamond plant which definitely lost the trust of the public in the 2007 recalls. I believe there is also rumor that they are contracting with Petco, another red flag for all of their poor practices and an additional reason it becomes one of ethics. Clearly if you buy from Petco you are supporting their less than desirable business practices. I have done so much research my brains almost feel like oatmeal. If you have questions there is a good chance I can share some information with you or direct you to it. I welcome all feedback that all of you have to share regarding your food experiences.

Hello Dianne, I've been reading all the news about the foods and wonder if it is necessary to change foods from time to time. Zeke is doing very well on Canidae. The only problem I have with it is that it is only available at one store locally. I really haven't looked to see what else is available because I didn't think I needed to.

Alrighty....I will wait on it...I was just curious...I will probably go with the Ca. Natural....it's more accessible also!
Thanks again!

Marcia,
You may want to hold up just a bit on Eagle Pack. They have recently acquired Wellness (they also have had some formula changes) and I would just let the dust settle first to see if they change anything up and merge or what. No sense getting used to yet another something only for it to change. Here is a link about that acquisition -

Erica,
Kodi has had California Natural with no issue in the past, as long as you ease him into it you should have no issues. I start with about 3/4's old and 1/4 new and gradually increase each day until I we are completely changed over.
