I forgot to mention that CaringTown is a non profit 501C3 which was granted after the interview shown in the video.

Oops, I didn't mean to say I'm a newbie. I'm just returning after a long MIA.

Hi, I’m Joy, a newbie here. I am the originator of Giant Schnoodles who I bred for service after being taught by my dogs about the trainability of the poodle & the intuitive abilities of the Giant Schnauzer. I spent 2 years testing & researching before choosing my breeding lines for my first breeding. I bred these dogs for service for me. I had specific goals & the dogs have exceeded my wildest dreams.  I didn’t expect them to become so popular. I have about 200 puppies over 8 years with no health issues. I think this is due to my careful genetic research & testing. I wish my parents had done genetic research before conceiving me LOL. But then I wouldn’t need a service dog. I now have Xena, my 8 year old sevice dog. Mirage 4 yrs, my upcoming service dog. And Zola, born 1/1/11 and half trained for service & may be available for placement to the right home. I am building CaringTown Inc, a center for training service dogs & the rescue & re-home of homeless dogs. For more info see video: http://Tinyurl.com/ChariotJoy Zola is turning out to love service. At home, she’s a puppy. But when I put a jacket on her, she gets very adult & professional & takes her job  very seriously. You can see her making an effort to do everything perfectly. If you know of anyone looking for a service dog, contact me at InventingJoy@InventingJoy.com

Jenna, I saw as I was scrolling through Doodle Kisses, a litter of pyredoodles. I have been using my Giant Schnoodles for balance for many years. Considering your height, I would grab one of those pyredoodles. They R hard to come by but would be perfect for your balance issues. What city R U in? It may be possible to find a trainer to help you train your dog for service. YOu would not be able to use your dog for balance for about 2yrs & even then, you would be best to get them xray'd before putting pressure on them. Also, I don't know anything abt the pyrdoodle breeder. It would be absolutely essential to be sure that both parents are tested for hip dysplasia. also look at siblings etc. You can contact me for more info at my chat forum which is set up to support my puppy parents but everyone is welcome. I post answers to questions free as my time allows. http://tinyurl.com/DogChat  I also offer a pick your puppy service where I assist people in getting the right dog. As a veteran, there are some programs where he can get a service dog. Google service dogs for veterans. I may be able to help you more if I knew where you live. Puppy love from Joy & the furry folk

Hi Liz, thank you so very much for the warm welcome and great info.  I saw Gabby Jack Ranch & read all I could about them online!  Do you think its possible to have a dog and train then that dog for service training?  We do have a young male labradoodle that has taken well to "truffle hunting" with my husband and a little myself.  I know I will need a service dog soon but not as of right now.  I thought it would be "easy" to go through a training program with him (Dublin) when the time came?  Do you think this is at all possible?  I know some places charge A LOT of money for these dogs and my husband is a Desert Storm disabled vet & I am disabled as well, we CAN NOT affor the estimated $15K to $25k?????? Thoughts?

Welcome, Jenna. It sounds like you need a big standard sized labradoodle who has had special training as a service dog. The training they undergo is immense and can't be duplicated by yourself at home. Check out Jacque Reynold's Gabby Jack Ranch. She is a wonderful breeder who has an excellent nonprofit organization (Gabby Jack Ranch) that trains labradoodles for service.

I would NOT recommend using a rescue dog for service, I rescue homeless labradoodles and these dogs all come with lots of baggage. We specifically will not adopt to a person who plans to use the dog for service since this is such a specialized program. You need to get a dog who was born and bred specifically right from the beginning to be a service dog, and has had professional training.

Good Luck.

Liz

I have a neuropathy issue but Dr's dont know the underlying cause of it.  Most of the time it's cause by diabetes.  I dont have that, been testef or it several times to ensure it was not missed.  I am 5ft 11inchs. I have been told by my Dr's a  Mobility dog is what I need, but I NEED a Standard size that is going to be able to support me.  Because of the Nuerapthy, my balance is thrown WAY off and I tend to fall many times during the day....Can anyone help me?
