To make the time go faster, what do you recommend when waiting for your puppy. I like shopping for puppy items, reading suggested puppy books--but my #1 favorite tool is spending time on Doodle Kisses. What do you recommend?
I have gone shopping for puppy things and discovered that I may have to take out a second mortgage tp pay for all the things that have caught my eye I have also read up quite a bit on labradoodles and puppies. But I do agree that my time on DoodleKisses does help me to pass the time. In all honesty though, the wait is not getting any easier nor does it seem shorter I look forward to any helpful comments.
I remember feeling this way about Christmas when I was a whole lot younger. The good thing is that once I have the puppy the fun will last a lot longer than Christmas did.
I'm struggling every minute....and I have to wait until January! EEEK!!! I go and play with the dogs of my extended family members and volunteer to doggie-sit all the time. I get my grandparents' chow for the next 3 weeks...it's not a doodle, but at least it has fur! I never could wait until christmas to open presents....I always had to peek.
When you wrote that you were getting your grandparents' chow--I thought you meant you were cooking for them until I read further. I've got to get our of the Maine backwoods!
Missi - I have to wait until next spring - March or April. At least its my second doodle so i have fergie to love in the meantime. But, I didn't know how wonderful fergie would be when i was waiting the first time. This seems almost just as hard. Thank goodness I have to save up the $$$ to get the next puppy or I'd be so tempted right now.

I don't get mine until May or June. It's killing me!! I can't wait! It's my first labradoodle. I lost my dog in June and I swore I didn't want another one because it's too hard when they die. Well, it's so quiet here and I miss having a pet. So my husband and I did some research and we decided on a doodle.
I lost my dog in February; I had him for 10 years, as a kid at home and he was my only roommate all through college. So after a few months of mourning (I cried for days), I realized I couldn't live without a dog in my life. After tons of research, I decided on a doodle. And though January doesn't seem so far away, I am on edge waiting. The mom should deliver sometime in the next few weeks, I am anxiously awaiting that phone call!! So, I understand the heartbreak, but that pain is small in comparison to the joy of having them around.
I agree with what most other people have said: spend time on doodle kisses, shop for the new puppy, I've read two puppy training books over the past month, watch dog training tv shows on Animal Planet, found a new veterinarian, found puppy training classes, found information on our local delta society chapter, spend time with our neighbors doodle, check out new doggy parks in the area, etc etc...lol I can't believe I only have ~3 weeks left! (The time goes by SOOO slowly, but I remember when I was initially waiting for 8 weeks!)
