9 days to go and can't pick a name...

Hi everyone,

 

This is my first official post...so bear with me.  We are adopting the chocolate Goldendoodle you see in my profile from a breeder in NY.  She sent an update today that said the vet gave her clearance to send the puppies home a week earlier than expected (after 7 weeks instead of 8).  So, that leaves us with 9 days to figure out a name for her.  We have lots of ideas but this is more stressful than naming our children (and we have 3 boys!).  The breeder has been asking for 2 weeks so she could help her get used to her name, but that didn't happen.  Do you all have names picked out already?  Should we just wait until we meet her?  How did you decide on the name for your puppy?

the name will come.  you can always call her Baby (as in dirty dancing..until you decide). It is hard when you have so many people involved and then if you pick one of theirs...they become the favorite child..

Well, she's here...and when we left the house to pick her up everyone was set to call her Kokomo...I like the name a lot but for some reason it didn't feel right to me.  Everyone sensed that I was not on board with it.  #2 was Liberty.  We brought her home and at one point when the kids were playing with her, she ran and hid under our end table, plopping her head on an American flag blanket we have and my middle son yelled --- "That's it, she's Liberty!"  So, we are calling her Liberty, although I can tell my husband still favors Kokomo.  We said we would give it until Monday.... but the kids are calling her by name and she is responding to them (I know they could call her shoelace and she would run to them right now, but they think she knows her name already).

Awesome, Amy! Man is she curly! Liberty is a sweet name. Let us know how it goes in these first days.

Our puppuy is going to have an identity crisis....  we have had her a week and are still not calling her by any name!  Liberty is not fitting just right.  Last night we decided to go back to Kokomo but now we may be changing that too...  I want a unique name, but "people names" are all that keep coming to mind.  Shelby and Maggie are constantly on the tip of my tongue.  Why is this so hard for me?  I named 3 kids with no problem...but the 'perfect' puppy name can't be found!

I like maggie too...you can sign to her "go to sleep maggie I have had just about enough of you.. its late at night and I really must go to sleep too.. ( okay, I was a big rod stewart fan and loveddd maggie mae..
