I read on the breeders website that I would be getting my puppy at 11 weeks of age which was freaking me out a bit in light of the potential missed socialization opportunities that you can't get back.  She emailed me last night to say that I can have the puppy at age 9 weeks and that as all her pups are born in her house and are exposed to children, adults and all manner of household noises and experiences she feels that nothing will be lost.  She also gets them used to crates which is hugely important as I am going to be collecting the puppy in England and traveling home by car and ferry.   I am so relieved as my last dog was five months old when I got him and I will be forever struggling with some of his oddities that could so easily have been avoided had I had him at a younger age. Four weeks to birth date and I can't wait!!!

Congratulations!

Congratulations!!  I know the waiting is going to be tough for us both but we need to just keep our 'eyes on the prize'!!

My breeder will let me have my pup at 9 weeks as well but I may have to ask her to keep the pup 1 extra week.  I will be done working from Memorial Day until Aug. and I want to make sure I'm going to be home those first couple of weeks that the pup is home.

I think most good breeders raise the puppies in their home and really socialize them too, exposing them to lots of sights and sounds.  And the breeder beginning crate training is also really helpful.

I'm excited for you!!

I'm looking at those little mites and wondering like you which one is yours and also what their faces look like!!  Can't wait to see some more photo's.  It will take some weeks for their characters and personalities to emerge and you, like me will be guided by the breeder who after all does this all the time.  I had a dream last night that my puppy was a Wire haired Fox Terrier who barked constantly!!  I'm going with the theory that Dreams work in the opposite.
Oh my!!  I had a Maltese that barked ALL the time.  He barked at his own shadow.  It drove me nuts.  Unfortunately, it my my REALITY and not a dream!!
