Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have four young girls, from 13 months to 9 years old and as such, our living room has 5 canvas bins filled with toys in them. This week my job is to relocate them, and insert with puppy toys (I don't have five boxes worth, don't worry!) I'm used to child-proofing, now I need to "puppy proof" If anyone has any puppy proofing tips, please do share! I haven't had a puppy in a couple years, but I do remember that they like to chew on just about everything. I don't want to have one of my kids mad at the puppy for chewing off Barbi or Dora's head or something, LOL!

I would walk around on my hands and knees and find things a puppy might mouth.
Tuck away any electric cords from TV's, etc so they are inaccessible.
Put the remote control in a place the dog can't reach.
Lids on trash cans or trash cans behind a cabinet door/under sink.
Soaps and other such bathtub items up high.
Keep bathroom and bedroom doors closed or invest in as many baby gates as you need.
Shoes...where will shoes go that is inaccessible to puppy?
Dirty diapers...are they in a pail or trash can that a puppy can't get into?
That's all I can think of for now...
As me and the girls have gotten started puppy-proofing, I'm realizing that this is going to be GREAT for kiddo training! If they don't pick up their toys, they will get chewed up! I am so psyched! 9 more days!
