With the holidays just around the corner, its time to start thinking about what to cook when the family comes.  I am always trying to find something new to try instead of the same old thing every year. Does anyone have some good recipes to share for the Holidays? Or maybe some of the traditional recipes with a new twist...

Here are a couple of recipes that I like that that might work for the holidays. The Double Layer Pumpkin Pie recipe is a sure hit and is NO COOK!:

Dressing
5 cups Apples
2 cups Almonds
2 cups onion
2 cups celery

Sautee in 1 cup of butter

16 cups Stuffing
1 cups raisins/craisins
Mushrooms
2 cups broth

Apple Crisp
9-10 apples for 9 x 13 pan
Spray pan
Lay apples in (sliced)
Topping 1-1/2 cups oatmeal
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup margarine (not light), softened

Bake 350 for 45 min or until bubbly

Winter Salad
4 cups torn greens
1 bag dried cranberries
2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
2 diced pears
2 diced apples
2 cups cashews

Toss all together with poppy seed dressing! Serve immediately….eat all of it…not appealing the next day!

Double Layer Pumpkin Pie
1. 4 oz. Cream cheese, softened
2. 1 tablespoon milk
3. 1 tablespoon sugar
4. 1-1/2 cups thawed Cool Whip
5. 1 Keebler Ready-Crust graham cracker crust
6. 1 cup milk
7. 2 pkgs. (4 serving size) Jell-O Instant Vanilla favored pudding & pie filling
8. 1 can (16 oz.) pumpkin pie filling
9. 1 tsp. Ground cinnamon
10. 1/2 tsp. Ground ginger
11. 1/4 tsp. Ground cloves

Mix cream cheese, 1 tablespoon of milk and sugar in large bowl with wire whisk until smooth. Gently stir in whipped topping. Spread on bottom of crust.
Pour 1 cup milk into bowl. Adding pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk until well blended, 1 to 2 minutes. (Mixture will be thick.)
Stir in pumpkin and spices with wire whisk; mix well. Spread over cream cheese layer.
Refrigerate at least 3 hours.
Garnish with additional whipped topping and nuts, if desired.
Dori, these all sound soooo good! I will definitely be trying these out.
Thanks for posting!!
Those sound amazing! I am trying to get over a bug...when I do, I will try some of these and add some others!

I have to try that winter salad!! Sounds soooo good!!

Here is a holiday jello salad that we like:

Cranberry Salad:

1 LG. Pkg. Raspberry JELLO

2 cups hot water

1 cup sour cream

1 can(16 oz.) Jellied Cranberries

1 cup chopped pecans

1.  Mix jellied cranberries and 1 cup hot (boiling) water in blender or mixer until smooth.

2. Dissolve jello in 1 cup boiling water.

3. Add cranberry mixture and pecans to mixture.

4. Put 1/2 mixture in 8" square glass baking dish and chill in freezer until firm.

5. Spread sour cream over top of chilled mixture, carefully.

6. Add second half of jello mixture over sour cream and chill until firm.

7. Cut into squares and serve.

Alternatively, I double this recipe and put it in a beautiful clear crystal  bowl, not cutting it into squares.  Looks festive on a holiday table.  I often will make this and let set up well in the fridge overnight.
