I am from the UK but live in Canada. My Mum is visitong so we are doing touristy things. we have done all the typical touristy things in past visits, so this time, we have mostly been out hiking seeing the local scenery (with Cooper of course!)
Yesterday, we stumbled upon a fruit winery - on subsequent research online we have found that the Lower Mainland (around Vancouver) has lots of vinyards, many of which make fruit wine.
So, we bought a blueberry wine, a white cranberry wine, and a red cranberry wine. The blueberry wine is to go with dinner tonight.... I will let you know what we think of it.
Anyone else have any experience with fruit wines?

I've liked some of the fruit wines at a local winery near my home, Coopershawk. I had a cranberry wine there last fall that was very good. And they're a good choice for people who don't really like the taste of alcohol. They're much more juice-like, for lack of a better word.
But they're usually pretty sweet. Better for sipping on their own, or with dessert, than with a meal, I think.
I have tried the cranberry/blueberry wine from a small winery in Bala in Northern Ontario - it was very nice - not sweet at all. I would definitely buy it again - a bit pricey but well worth it. We had it with Thanksgiving dinner last year.
My favourite white wine is Le Piat d'Or (french wine) however I have found a cheaper white wine that I like almost as much - the brand name is French Cross.
I have a bottle of Leelanau Cellars (from Northern Michigan) on my counter, blueberry flavor, it was a gift from my SIL. Have not tried it yet but I had cranberry over the holidays and loved it. Just waiting for the right meal to try it with, maybe steak.
The cranberry was NOT sweet, I hope the blueberry is the same, not a fan of sweet wines.
