Holly had some litter siblings that had more of the curly poodle type coat and would not shed at all. However, Holly sheds so minimally that it is not a problem at all. Our previous big dog was a beautiful Golden Retriever - German Shepherd - Wolf hybrid that would shed bags and bags of fur twice a year. We love the influence that the Golden Retriever genes impart to a mixed breed but, we didn't want to cope with the profuse shedding again. Holly was the perfect compromise and we couldn't have wished for a better or more loving companion. We are keeping Holly's coat short because she doesn't do well in the heat and it looks like Southern California is in for a hot summer.

I LOVE how Holly's coat is turning out. A great half way between the retriever and poodle...and she's lovely.
