About Me:: Originated in The Bronx, lived 25 years in Northern California ad recently relocated to Rhode Island. I teach reading in a very challenging middle school. My home sits in a beautiful forested property, which is why I moved to Rhode Island. I love to walk the beaches, woods and mountains....anything outdoors with my dogs, Shayna and Loki

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!: I have TWO Labradoodles. One born in March, 2007. Her name is Shayna, which means beautiful , and that she certainly is. Her sister is a cat, named Kitty...I think she would prefer a dog, since she plays with her like a dog and she carries her around the house like a puppy. The newest one, LOKI, is a red hair, born on Dec. 20, 2009. She is wild, as her name says, god of mischief.! She is a Double Doodle and F2b. The two dogs get along great.

Where did you get your doodle(s)?: Breeder

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?: I chose a Labradoodle because I loved Labs, but hated their shedding and so I wanted a non-shedder. Shayna's mom is a Labradoodle and father a Poodle, then I took the curliest puppy, which just about assured me a non-shedder. I also knew that their personality was wonderful, health better and they lived a longer life than most. Loki is a Double Doodle....father a Labradoodle/Goldendoodle and mother a Poodle. She is the newest of the Doodles!

What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?: Shayna goes everywhere with me. The past 2 summers she went to California with me. The lifesstyle there is very dog friendly compared to RI. Here we go everywhere off leash we can and mostly off season. Beach-off season, State parks --off season. Horse trails. Providence Gano Dog Park, Lincoln chase Farms Pond and Hiking in R.I. Loki follows Shayna everywhere, but when I call her, she turns around "on a dime" and runs to me. She loves the woods, she runs like the wind.

Does your doodle(s) shed?: Nope!

Who grooms your doodle(s)?: Wendy at Petsmart, Warwick and me for minor grooming

Favorite Doodle Products?: Shayna will destory any toy. She only has 4. The Hartz company puts them out. They are good for he teeth and indestructable. They are knobby and fun for her to chew and have me throw.
Outside she now loves the Chuck-It. Shayna does not touch the puppy's toys. She seems to know not to play with them, which was a worry of mine. she respects Loki's things and there is much peace and fair sharing.

Are your dogs fading in color? Casey is about 18 months old and though she was very dark as a puppy she is now sort of strawberry blonde. Roxie was just one year old this week and though she isn't fading yet I can see it coming when I part her coat down to the skin.

Have you heard anything of Kathy since she closed the kennel?

He is both independent and lovable depending on his mood! He loves to play, his best friend is a boxer....The other dogs love biting his ears, since they are big and floppy!! My Goldendoodle, Robyn is also from Jerseydoodles. There are a few other Jerseydoodles on DK as well, most of them belong to the Double Doodles group. I think one of them may even been Loki's littermate. (By the way,she is adorable!) Robyn's brother Bluto and his mom are also DK members.

At 6:03pm on August 8, 2010, Michelle said…: Yes, I was looking for standard size too originally, but once my husband saw the medium size he was sold. She is very nice & it was very clean there, We went to visit them every weekend until we brought them home!
I unfortunately missed his show this weekend. I had a huge breast cancer fundraiser that I volunteered for & I missed out. I looked at his schedule, he is going to be in CT too for the pet expo I think. Are dogs allowed to go to those events?
Same here, if you are ever in CT, look us up, we can have a mini romp!
