I’m Alyson Rodges, trainer at Aly’s Puppy Boot Camp®-at home on the acre. I want to take a moment to introduce myself. I have always been interested in training dogs, since I went through my first obedience class with my Queensland Heeler when I was 12 years old. I’ve owned and trained “doodles” long before “doodles” were cool. My 15-year-old Labradoodle, Izzie, is the queen on our acre property. Her prince is 5 year-old, Kozi. Bo entered the scene over a year and a 1/2 ago and we all couldn’t be happier. Izzie, Kozi and Bo have helped me shape many dogs attitudes and properly integrate them into a daily living routine.
For the past 20 years, I’ve lived on an acre in Orcutt, California with my wonderful husband, two kids, dogs, cats, horses, pigs, rabbits….the list seems to grow each year. Years ago, what began as a hobby of helping friends with their dogs has turned into a business for me. In the beginning, my friends and I would laughingly say, “We give our dogs some Life Management Skills.” However, I’ve come to see through the years of working with my dogs and other people’s dogs that ‘life management skills’ are really what we want to share with our four-legged friends. My basic training philosophy is that we train our dogs as we are living our daily lives! My Pillars of Pack Leadership™ training philosophy breaks down these concepts into very manageable blocks of information that real people can implement into their lives. We passionately love our dogs and want them part of our everyday life; however, they often can’t participate the way we’d like until they have some skill sets/behaviors that make daily living pleasant for both owner and pet.
I offer what we all live with.–A home full of kids & family of all ages, animals, distractions, schedules, neighbors, noises, smells, etc. Your pup becomes part of our extended family for their visit on the acre. How long they stay depends on you, your goals and your friend. Your puppy will learn the foundations of good behavior with a heavy emphasis on socialization and good manners. Your puppy will learn good doggie etiquette through play and socialization.
Your puppy will learn the basic obedience commands such as “sit”, “come”, “down”, “off”, “back” , “no” and working around distractions. I cover kennel (crate) training, chewing, jumping, barking, digging, potty training and socialization with children in the house. Your puppy will arrive to me during his 8th to 12th Week which, for a puppy, is critical because his learning facilities are fully in place. He will learn to play and work as we encourage your dog’s desire and ability to work for you. You will receive a “Daily Journal” that I keep on each day’s activities, training tips, our challenges, and our successes. I also post video on Facebook and YouTube so you can watch and learn the techniques I use with your puppy. I will challenge you to be the best pack leader you can possibly be!
I hope this answers some of your questions and I want you to feel free to call me with any additional questions you may have. I look forward to speaking with you.
Blessings to you,
- Aly

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
15 1/2 years ago, my Border Collie/McNab mix Jami, died. I had always had working dogs and I decided that now that I had two young children I might want to consider another breed. I took a On-Line quiz about what kind of dog I should have and it spit out a name called, "Labradoodle"....I had never heard of it, so I began to research it...well the rest if the story is history!

Do you have a website of your own? If so, share it here:
You need to tell me about how this doggie training camp works. Did Puzzles family ask her to get additional training? Who pays for that as I see your prices are pretty high? Did you decide she needed 30 days or is that what her placement family requested?
Welcome to DoodleKisses - the best website around for doodle lovers everywhere. I see you are into horses also. Doodles and horses - what a nice combo. I have been to your website. And, Harpo is also a three-year-old multi-generational Australian labradoodle.
So happy to see you here, Aly! Coby and I spent a wonderful first day together after graduation and are enjoying reinforcing the Pillars of the Pack principles; she is such a joy when we go for our little jaunts around the house, especially whe she plops herself down in front of the door each and every time waiting for my approval to step out or enter. It's almost time for Bedtime Ritual (part deux!). Love to sweet Izzy, Bo and Kozi and the rest of the gang and looking forward to seeing your posts on her (one MORE thing to add to your day!!)
