About Me:
I am married to a terrific man who works for UPS. I just retired from teaching (high school English) and am enjoying the heck out of life right now. Both of us have always had dogs and can't imagine life without them. We'd love to just have two, but things never seem to work out that way. We always seem to get a puppy whenever our oldest dog slows down too much to play with the other one.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have a Labradoodle whose name is Toby, and he will be three in May. He turned out much smaller than we expected (33 lbs.) but we are thrilled with his size. He is a black and silver phantom color and is spunky and so much fun. We also have Sammie who is a 10 year old Golden Retriever/black Chow mix. He is gorgeous and looks like a stocky, very furry and shiny black Golden Retriever. He is in excellent health. Our old lady is Lily, who is a Gordon Setter/Mountain Dog mix. We are positive about the Gordon Setter part, but are surmising about the Mountain Dog part due to her funky fur and her extra dew claws. She is a total sweetheart, but is showing her age (hips and ankles). She still tries to walk with us every day, and when she isn't up to it, she turns herself around and we take her home.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We chose a doodle for a number of reasons. First of all, poodles have a reputation of being very intelligent dogs, they don't shed, they have few health issues, and the miniatures and standards seem to have easy to live with personalities. Quite honestly, we got a labradoodle instead of a goldendoodle because when we were looking, we found our Toby's picture in the newspaper's ad website and fell in love. He was totally unique due to his phantom color pattern. It turns out that we made a perfect choice.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We walk with all our dogs every day, and at least once a week, we go to the dog park. Since Toby was taken to a fabulous doggie day care weekly for his first year-and-a-half, he has become very social and loves to meet other dogs.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!

Yes, Charlie is considered a medium chocolate ALD - he weights 38#.  We live in eastern Washington and I noticed on your profile that you live in Chandler.  We spent Jan & part of Feb in Cave Creek, AZ - we have several friends that live in the Phoenix area.  I was actually a little depressed when we returned and our weather was still very cool and windy!  We had so much fun that we decided to do it again next year.  You never know, we may meet up sometime - it is such a small world.  I will send you a friend request.

Barbara - Toby is a beautiful doodle.  I have a medium ALD and he is 15 mos now and weight 38 lbs.  I too love the size.  For many years we had a large black standard poodle and I agree with you the smaller size is so much easier to handle traveling, etc.  Be sure to check out the groups section and join as many as you like.  There is a ton of info on this site and I have really enjoyed it over the last 6 months.

See you on Doodle Kisses,
