Eisenhower dog park has a small dog and a large dog part. It is quite a bit larger than Alice's dog park in Sierra Madre, at least as I remember it. Eisenhower has numerous trees and some grass, although the center "run" area tends to get worn to dirt. There is a tap for water, pooper scoopers and waste cans. The are benches and tables, but no food is allowed either people or dog food. Generally it is pretty quiet. Weekdays there is a pet sitting service that uses it fairly regularly for about a half hour between 2 and 3.
Sierra Madre is a nice town for dog owners as many of the businesses are pet friendly. There is a restaurant on the south side of Sierra Madre Blvd further west than the Only Place in Town that has a patio and is very dog friendly.
When the weather warms up, about March probably, be sure to watch for the doodle romps at Seal Beach dog park. It is a huge grassy dog park about 40-45 minutes from here. The romps are usually one Saturday a month from 12-3. They will be posted in the Southern California group.
I am sorry I am so slow to accept you as a friend, I just tonight even noticed that I had 3 friend requests. We are in Arcadia CA - south of Duarte. We sometimes go the the dog park at 2nd and Colorado (Eisenhower Park). Would be glad to meet you there sometime.
I don't think you will miss much because there isn't one scheduled for December and I am not sure about January. One of these days we will meet. I can't wait to meet Cooper. I love his 'look.'
The Malibu romp is "formal." We went once and it was very fun. We usually get together casually about once a month at Arbor Dog Park in Seal Beach - hosted by Kate Papas. The next one is Nov. 19. Here is the information on it:
Place: Arbor Park Dog Park, 4665 Lampson... behind West-Ed Facility in College Park East Seal Beach,CA
Time: 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM
The park is ON Lampson...BEHIND a business complex. A little hard to see, but it's there. There is lots of grass and shady trees and plenty of fresh water. Unfortunately there are no benches so pop a couple beach chairs in your car.
Turn up the little road OFF Lampson and proceed until you must turn right to the parking lot and you'll see the dog park all the way to the end on the left.
Email us if you have any questions: Kate Pappas - katydoodle1@mac.com or Linda Crawford Scott - therapydoodle@verizon.net
And occasionally I have set up 'play dates' at Laguna Beach or Vista.
