- I'm 27 years old, engaged to my wonderful fiancé, Danny, and we have an 18 month old son, Axton, who is my whole world. We got Chewy for Christmas for myself and Axton. He's doing pretty well so far, he has a few accidents still with crate training, but he's still only 8 weeks old. He is getting used to being with our family, and Axton absolutely adores him. Chewy likes Axton, too, and they will be best friends I'm sure. Chewy chases Axton all over the house, it's hilarious. Chewy still cries in his kennel, but he's slowly realizing that's his bed.

Hi Haley--cute pics! I see karen mentioned in your post that Chewy is bred back to a retriever--I didn't notice that--so he probably will be shaggy, but more retriever like in appearance and may shed quite a bit--it is a good thing we fall in love with these fellows so fast! You really don't know until their puppy coat has transitioned to an adult coat and that won't happen until 12-14 months of age.
Also, please be careful with little Axton and the pup---kids that young can be hard on a tiny pup--in terms of dragging them by the legs and hurting hips--leaving smaller toys that a pup can choke on, things like that---so, you will have to be vigilant so that everyone tays happy AND healthy! But before you know it, they will both be older and it will get better.
