Gracie had her rabies shot last Friday and we just noticed a lump in the area where she received the injection. Has anyone else experienced this with your Labradoodle?Concerned parents!! Continue

I just heard about the "love on a leash" and wondering if any Doodle owners have taken their Doodle through the program?

I think it is wonderful that you and your wife volunteer. Our CGC instructor also has a doodle that is an Angel on a Leash - her name is Sophie. They volunteer at the children's reading group at the Richland library. I have decided to take a break for 2 months and then in the spring Charlie and I will be going back to obedience and then try to get certified for therapy. I have thought about visiting a retirement home in the area to see if there is any interest in visits from a cute little Charlie Brown he Labradoodle.
I saw someone on this site (I think) - who put their puppy in a small grocery cart (with a blanket in the bottom) and visited retirement homes and that way did not have to worry about him bumping the elderly. I thought it was a great idea.
If you happen to get the name of the therapy certification instructor here, I would appreciate the name.
Take care and best wishes to you and your family for beautiful holiday season.

Our stories are quite similar - as we lost our standard poodle last year 12-18-2010. We still miss him terribly. After several months of research we decided on an ALD and choose Manor Lakes as our breeder. As it turns out Charlie was born on the day Wilbur passed. From the moment I saw his photo at 4 wks, I was so in love with him and as it turned out he matched to our lifestyle and personality. I can imagine how much you love your little Gracie. These dogs are just so very sweet and lovable.
Charlie passed his CGC at 8 months old and I am also thinking along therapy lines for him because he is so very sweet and considerate of people.
Hope to see you again on Doodle Kisses, and
Wishing you a beautiful holiday season,
Ron, Linda & Charlie Brown
I just sent you a friend request after I saw your photos and realized you live in Yakima. In your bio you mentioned Gracie is from Manor Lakes. So is Charlie, our medium labradoodle who was born on 12/18/2010. Charlie's momma was Aero and his father was Cosmo. Could it be that Gracie is his sister?? That would be so exciting. I have been curious where all his siblings are.

Hi again, just realized that I never explained about the primrose oil. They are softgels, and you give it whole like a pill, once a day. Some dogs will eat it is you put it in their bowl, but with JD, I just give it like a pill. Do not cut, crush, or puncture it.
Dogs with any signs of seizure disorders should not take EPO.
I'm hesitant to recommend antihistamines, as i don't know what other meds your dog may be taking, and she's very small. (JD weighs over 80 lbs and gets three 10 mg Claritin, all at one time, once per day.) You might try giving her one tablet a day.
Hope that helps.
Hi Renee,
I'm guessing from your comment that you had blood tests done by a general practice vet and not by a veterinary dermatology specialist. This is a very complicated issue, and not one easily discussed in short comments, but if that's the case, I'm sorry to say that the test results are unreliable and it's doubtful that your dog is allergic to what they say she is allergic to. A specialist would have given you advice on the primrose oil and antihistamines, as well as laying out a treatment plan.
I'm going to send you a friend request so we can talk in more detail about this, and in the meantime, please request to join the Atopic Dermatitis support group and i'll approve you.
