Joy, Only one of my two is a Certified Therapy Dog...I have been too lazy to take the second one through the training process. Webber, the certified one, is a meet and greet kind of guy. He loves meeting people and he tolerates being handled very well. He would not do well in a reading program, as he is most interested in keeping track of everyone in the room rather than laying down and being quiet.
Hi Joy, love your picture. I am ver Hal with Liy Grace. She is as smart as a whip and has a great disposition. She makes me laugh which is so important as I am alone. She just turned 8 months old and has passed all components of the CGC except walking through a group of dogs while only paying attention to me. She loves everyone! Humans and dogs. Right now she is blowing her puppy coat and it is not fun. I am sure she will have to be shaved when she has her appointment April 30. I would never have believed how hard it actualy is to keep her from matting with her long hair. I am hoping that a short haircut until her adult hair is all in will relieve this problem. She is just so cute with her long hair. I would like Lily to become a therapy dog. She loves everyone and is very patient with kids including those that are facing challenges. Good luck with your choice.
Thanks for complimenting my dogs - the way to my heart..... Here is a link to the therapy dog group: http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/therapy Lots of doodles have become Canine Good Citizens and many have gone on to get the therapy certificate. Mine are CGC but we didn't train for the next level. One of mine would not like it - he is more aloof, and the other sheds lots so.....
Welcome! This is a great place to learn/share about doodles. There are many groups that you can join. For example, there are groups for grooming, nutrition, health/medical, types of doodles, puppy groups etc. Look at the top of your page and click on Groups - check them out. I think there is a group devoted to therapy dogs. Enjoy!
