Hi Julie, I have a 20 month old, first generation goldendoodle from Jennifer's Canines. He's wonderful--everything Jennifer said he would be: smart, gentle, sweet, non-shedding. We live in southern CA and she is here, in Calabasas. I would recommend her and her puppies unconditionally! I'm happy to answer any other questions.
On behalf of Jamaica ~ thank-you for the compliment! I absolutely adore her, and she is the perfect dog for me, but I could not, in all good conscience recommend her breeder.
Good luck! You will LOVE having a Doodle ~ we just met with about 10 other Doodles at Crissy Field yesterday morning.

Nick came from Southern California Doodles in Palmdale. She's been a great dog with a wonderful temperment and when I visited the breeder I was impressed with the kennels.
I saw your posting abotu F1s in the F1 group! My Peri is an F1 mini and we are in TN, so I don't have a CA recommendation.
But I will tell you F1s are the best. They have the perfect 50/50 retriever/poodle mix. Sure sometimes they shed, but my husband and I said we would never get a higher generation. (well, shouldn't say never, but you get the picture).
Good luck and welcome to doodle kisses.

Welcome to DoodleKisses and the Nor-Cal group. I'm glad you are taking the time to really research doodles that are available. First you will need to decide if you want a labradoodle or a goldendoodle. There are plenty available of both, but you need to get hooked up with a reputable breeder. They are really quite different. What is your living arrangements? What is your work schedule. That kind of outdoor space do you have? All questions you really need to consider because these are very active dogs and need a lot of exercise. Good luck finding the perfect doodle for you.
Yes, I live in San Diego and got my precious Gracie Doodle from a local breeder that we just happened on. We have kept in contact with her and I am always sending her photos of Gracie. She actually has some on website. She was living in Alpine which is East of us up in the SD mountains. She has now moved a little further East but still breeding. The one thing she does NOT do is ship her Doodles. You have to come get them. That is what I like about her. I would never get one that had to fly across the US and go through all that trauma...just my personal feelings. Gracie is 3 years old and when we got her Christy was only breeding Standard F1 but we have visited a few times since and she had F1b puppies. Two of our friends got brother F1b puppies from her 10 months ago and they are standard. I love Gracie's size. She is not imposing at all and has run of our entire house which is not all that big. We never feel like she is a big dog until we sit back and look at her and admire how magnificent she is! Our daughter lives in San Jose and we drive up with Gracie for visits. We just got back two weeks ago. Easy 8 hours or less. Our son went to UCB so I know you could do the drive easily. What I love about Christy is how low key she is with the puppies. She has four of her own children who are always handling and playing with the puppies which makes for getting them on track for great socialization and people attention. The puppies are part of the family and not in kennels on the property. We went up every weekend to visit Gracie from the time she was 2 weeks old and brought her home at 6 weeks. We had zero problems with her adjusting to leaving the litter. I know there is much controversy on when to get your puppy and most breeders say 8 weeks. It's your choice. Here is her website: http://christysgoldendoodles.net/2/cgds.nsf/home Christy Donnell (619)729-6217 Tell her Nancie Casey and Gracie Doodle sent you! Keep in touch!

I would suggest you go to http://idog.biz/index.html for breeder recommendations and endorsements. There are a number of CA breeders and you would then be able to check them out with IDOG. You might also look at The Zoo, http://disc.yourwebapps.com/Indices/228724.html.
