I have always liked animals. I worked at a vet for my first job. I went into biology then nursing. Did my master's research project on animal assisted therapy.Volunteered for a while at Canine Assistants but unfortunately had to quit as allergic to dogs and spent more time sneezing than volunteering. Met my first doodle there. Never saw a goofier dog and adored them ever since.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Adopted 2 labradoodles from Canine Assistants who needed a home as they were too skittish for the program. When we adopted them, my brother recently had a stroke and my husband thought they might be good for my brother too. Turns out my brother was good for them. They went from being super shy to now playing and friendly all over dog parks. They are amazing dogs. Hugo is extremely loyal and tends to stay by my brother's side. Spot is the explorer and always runs everywhere. Oh - and their sister served as a therpay dog for a few years then got returned - the center needed a place for a retired dog to go and she was so happy to be back with her brother litter mates that she was kept too. Her name is Coco. She is black and not coco colored. Canine Assistants names the dogs after themes and they were the designer bunch - Hugo Bosse, Coco Chanel and Spot due to a tiny spot on his chest. So if you see 3 black doodles - they are my brother's dogs now and he takes great care of them. They are therapy dogs who flunked out of school but are a huge success in the life of my brother. My brother's gentleness has really been incredibly helpful to them too as they are no longer super shy dogs.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Rehome
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I did not choose them - they chose me. When I volunteered at Canine Assistants Spot and Hugo formed a bond with me and were very comfortable with me. they were not easy to bond with as they were extremely shy. When they needed a home, it was a good fit.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Go to creeks and watch them splash around.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Yes!, A little bit but nothing major, Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
3 dogs from 1 litter - Spot never sheds. Coco sheds a little. Hugo sheds a lot. We groom them ourselves.
Favorite Doodle Products?
A great set of clippers. The Kong squeaky too with long ribbon like legs for playing catch.
Thank you for the kind words about Fudge and Vern. Vern is scared of everything and Fudge can be a stinker, but we wouldn't trade them for the world. Enjoy DK!!!
