What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have a 5 month old Aussie Goldendoodle puppy named Ziggy and a 12 year old Akita named, Niko. :)
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
My sister has a friend who breeds them and had recommended looking at them. I researched the breed and went to many web sites to also read about them and visited the breeders and the parents of Ziggy before deciding.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Welcome to DoodleKisses, Lisa. It is the best website around for doodle lovers everywhere. I always loved the Aussiedoodles. I have had a labradoodle (my best dog ever), a phantom goldendoodle, and an ALD. Our latest is sort of a doodle (a Jackapoo) and we are getting a sheepadoodle (OES and standard poodle) next year. They are all so different and totally enjoyable.
Hello Lisa, I breed Aussiedoodles and I was curious.. you call your Ziggy a Aussie Goldendoodle? What does that mean exactly? A goldendoodle bred with an Australian Shepherd or a Aussiedoodle bred with a Goldendoodle? I not only ask out of curiosity..because I would love to know the breeds in the mix but also because I have considered doing a Aussiedoodle and Labradoodle mix.. which would be what's called a Double Doodle but I've never seen that exact mix done before. Anyway.. Ziggy is SO beautiful. Aussiedoodles are amazing I know that much but whatever Ziggy is mixed with also seems to be a good mix as well. :)
Oh I forgot to mention, regarding the biting, that is just how puppies play. It takes some longer than other to get it! Charlie was very easy, but I remember Beau would jump on my pants leg outside and shake his head like it was a toy. He torn several of my pants and I was not very happy with him. I finally got smart, and when he would do that, I would calmly pick him up and put him in his crate. I never said a word to him, just gave him a time out. He quickly realized that he could not do that. We no longer have children at home, but I have a little neighbor girl (7) who loves to come over and play with the boys. I have noticed her quick movements and her hand movements especially get Beau a little excited. He does not trust her - and he will run about 8 feet away from her and bark. Charlie on the other hand will just sit down by her and want to be petted. Needless to saw, Peyton loves Charlie, but Beau not so much. Beau is finally starting to get past it, but it has been trying. Be sure to get him into a puppy class and then formal obedience class. As you know training is key for a great family dog. When Ziggy is one, you will look back and laugh, but be very happy he is almost out of the puppy stage! Hang in there.
Lisa ~ maybe she will just continue to be an easy keep! Charlie Brown was like that and I thought he was like a little old soul when we brought him home. His personality has not changed much over the years. His half brother on the other hand was a very silly puppy and still is at 18 mos. old! LOL I love them both to death. I am glad you joined DK - you will meet a lot of very fun loving people that are also doodle lovers!
