- About Me:
- I am an Interior Designer and animal lover. I am fortunate to live in a beautiful resort community in the lakes country of Wisconsin where my dogs run free in the woods and swim in the lake whenever they choose.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- I have my first Golden Doodle (1/2 golden retriever, 1/2 standard poodle) after many years of having Golden Retrievers we made the change. Our Doodle is 7 months old at present, his name is Bodie Miller and he is everything we could ever hope for in a dog. We also have a 10 year old toy poodle named Too!, 2 house cats:Zuess and Lil' Hu$$y, an 18 year old Appaloosa: Rudy, a young Paint: Cochise and a Beta fish: Michaelangelo.
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?
- Breeder
- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- I have never had a mixed breed dog before, we have always had AKC registered dogs. When our 14 year old Golden Retriever (Sturgis) died in August of 2012 we were very broken up and decided to wait a while to get a new pup. I discovered in the year that passed that I loved living in a home that was not covered in dog hair!! For the first time in my adult life I wasn't carrying lint brushes in every bag, vacuuming daily, rolling all the upholstery with every gadget made and waging a daily war on fur!! The man that grooms my toy poodle is a Doodle breeder and talked to me about the wonders of doodles! He had a litter of golden and labradoodles the same week and I fell in love with a little male golden doodle. I bought him on the spot (he was 3 days old) and gave him to my husband as an anniversary gift 9 weeks later.
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- We live in a resort community in the lakes country of Wisconsin. Our doodle runs free on our property. We have cleared yard for speedy running :) and miles of dense forest surrounding us where he is free to adventure on deer trails and chase rabbits all day, the lake is handy and Bodie is a swimmer. The day we got him we took him down to the water just to get him used to it, he jumped in and took off swimming! He swam daily all summer. Now that we are in deep winter he is a snow dog. He will play outside in the snow for hours on end, digging, jumping, running. He doesn't care about the temperatures and has to be coaxed to come indoors even when it is below zero! He talks all the time, the most vocal dog we have ever had, he is not a barker, but is always talking and has started to mimic the words 'out' and 'love you' !! We are hoping he is done growing now at 7 months as he is larger than any Golden we ever had. He has never shed so much as a hair!!

First I want to thank everyone who commented on the Sturgis' story in my last blog. I would like to respond to each individual post but as of yet have not figured out how to do that. I spend entire days at times on the computer, but still am not a natural and mostly stumble across the way to do things as I go. We are proud folks here!
Bode Miller (he spells it Bode, but for ease of understanding when naming our pup I added an i ) the skier is killin' it in Sochi so far!! This is Bode Miller's 5th Olympic games, he is 36 years old, and after three training runs he is in first place in the downhill. I watched his last run this morning and it was magnificent!! Mr Miller is enjoying a day with his friends at preschool.
It is really a doggie day care, but we just prefer the term preschool!
Bodie goes to preschool once or twice a week depending on my schedule, the weather, and his level of exuberance. Most days someone is home most of the day. As a freelancer I control my own schedule and try not to work out of the house more than 3 days a week or more than 6 hours a day,,,,I am old and lose patience very quickly these days!! About 6…

Just saw on the WI GD group that a GD meeting is being planned for 5/18/14 at Minooka Park in Waukesha......interested?
I love, love, love doodles. We only have 1 - though I would love to have another but its hard enough to get someone to dog sit when going on vacay when you only 1 dog much less having another. A little info about my doodle "Irish". She was born on St Patty's day (hence the name) five years ago. She's cream color and a F1b. She is just the best, best dog. We just love her. We live here in Wisc Rapids and it seems that GD's are starting to spring up a little more. We obtain Irish at 8 weeks old from a breeder in Neenah, Wi.. Have you joined the Wisc group of GD here on doodlekisses? They meet at least once a year - normally around the Waukesha area and would love to meet w/them sometime - it would be great fun getting together w/a group of doodles.....

yes that's where I got her name , I went to work and two of the young girls said what did you name her ? I said "Miss Beasley " and they said where did you get that name from so I said "Clearly you are to young to be my friend ...lol ~ How old is your adorable doodle ?
Bodie is a handsome boy ... you can see how big he is in the pic's of your husband holding him .. amazing how fast they grow !
