Today: Sunday 2/2/14

If you're reading this blog, great. I am really not writing for public consumption, I love to write, I love to blog and I write for my own pleasure. I had a blog for 3 years following a weight loss journey but have reached the point of just being sick of the whole thing,,,so now as the opportunity has presented itself I am going to blog for a bit about doggie life! Word of warning,,,I tend to digress, as you will see within moments of reading this, my very first entry,,,,run away now ...the following are the nonsensical ramblings of a frustrated writer!! Oh yeah, I am a huge fan of the run-on comma and period (denoting I think in my mind, the need to pause and breath a moment!!)

Today is an 'all about me' day so far in the world of Mr Miller.

Bodie and his sister Too!  (from the Wizard of Oz when the witch says, " I'll get you my pretty,,,and your little dog too!",,,,she is named,' my little dog Too! ',,,just Too! for short. One evening when I may have had one too many glasses of Shiraz and was doing my witch imitation it occurred to me that not only would it be funny If I had a little dog named Too that I brought everywhere with me, I would also have a chance to do my wicked witch imitation all the time!!....  So the next day I went on the hunt for a little dog to name Too! and 6 months later brought home a cute little white toy poodle who grew up to weigh a whopping 8lbs, rides in a purse and is actually dyed bright pink,,,,and yes, I get to say.....I'm coming over later, and bringing ' my little dog Too!' in my great witchy voice all the time!! Yeah!! ) sleep in the laundry room just off the kitchen.

The name Bodie Miller is rather self explanatory, I am a fan!! I have watched Bodie Miller's career from the start ( I am a skier, I went to college in Utah so that I could work at ski resorts while getting an education. That worked somewhat,,,,I dropped out every winter semester to hit the slopes full time and ended up taking 7 years to earn my bachelors!)

Bodie gets up first when I start the coffee, while it's brewing we have morning cuddle time and it's all about Bo (Bodie goes by Bo, Bodie, Bodie Miller, and Mr Miller depending on what we are up to at any given moment....' Mr Miller ' tends to be reserved for the extremes!,,,lots of trouble or lots of comedy!) when the coffee is ready Too! gets up for a cuddle and everyone heads outside for a morning romp in the woods. ( I do not romp, I sit on the front deck sipping coffee,,,,,in the spring, summer and fall it is a wonderful way to start the day,,,,currently most mornings are below zero and I am wrapped in blankets and scarves and big boots freezing my ' U know what' off!! After the woods romp we get a piece of turkey bacon for breakfast and I feed the fish. 

Today Mr Miller has decided he is more important than anyone or anything! After a very long cuddle he refused to let it end,,,when Miss Too! got up he repeatedly got between us, even going so far as to jump up on me to be sure I couldn't reach her. When I was finally able to sit down and pet my little pink girl Bodie snarfed his way in and climbed into my lap ( all 50+ pounds, oversized paws and gangly legs) to keep her out of it! After our woods romp when I tried to feed my fish ( I have one fish,,,,a Beta named Michelangelo,,,he lives in a 2.5 gallon glass faux milk bottle ( drinks dispenser from Pier One ) on the kitchen counter and I feed him one tiny piece of food at a time. I have trained him to come to my finger tip and take the food,,,then he has to hold still while I give him fingertip pets! I love it,,,petting a fish is very cool, and he actually does seem to like it! ) It takes maybe 5 minutes to do a fish feed and luvin',,,the whole time I was trying to feed Michelangelo Bodie was walking between me and the counter, rubbing up against my leg and actually trying to shove me away from the fish!! 

Jealous Much!!!

Bodie is 7 months old and so we have gone through a few ' phases ' already,,,,are we entering a needy one? jealous one? self absorbed teenager phase? I don't know yet,,,,but it's only day one of the new phase, we will see what we get!! Currently while I have been writing this he has been laying at my feet with his head on top of my feet so I can't move!

It is sunny!! Wahoo!!, sadly that is not a common occurrence in mid-winter here in the north woods. It is currently 2 degrees below zero but is suppose to get up to 9 above today!! An unseasonably cold winter,,argh!! But 9 degrees in the sun is quite balmy this year so I think it will be a snowshoe day! Bodie doesn't get his own snowshoes, the Gigantor paws he's sportin' seem to do just fine in any snow depth,,,and as tearing through chest deep snow seems to be one of Bodies true joys in life so much the better. We will have to wait a few hours to head out as I really need it to be at least 5 degrees to enjoy being out there. We are fortunate to live in a resort community and have miles and miles of groomed cross country ski and snowshoe trails that start at the front door! Bodie has been cross country skiing a few times, but at this point his puppy exuberance for the sport has landed me on my rear more times than I can count, so we are sticking to the snowshoes today! Perhaps dear put-upon hubby will join us today, in which case he will have to strap a hot pink poodle wearing a leopard faux fur scarf and hat and pleather boots to his chest and take her along,,,poor man,,,I really do feel sorry for him!! Really! But it's sooo funny to see this big, tough, bearded, bald headed biker with a pink poodle riding around in a back pack with him that I can't help myself!!! 

As usual, a cup of coffee (or 4 ) a lap top, morning fire in the fireplace and a warm sunbeam to sit in and I am rambling!!! Yep,,,,tis the start of another great day!!
