What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We lost our labradoodle Packer in August. It is still too painful to talk about the tragedy. He was my son and I will never get over his loss.
Bo our standard poodle is our pride and joy!
Bucky and Little Girl our are Birman kitties that are thoroughly entertaining.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Because I have researched dogs for years and always wanted a huge cream dog. Dream was a great pyranees but didn't want the shedding. Plus I need a dog that was far more athletic to keep up with my active lifestyle. Years later when my hubby and I were finally able to get a dog that we were able to give him the attention he deserved, I discovered labradoodles....holy cow he turned out to be the pertect breed for our lifestyle. So was the poodle...so from here on out we will always have a standard poople and standard doodle1
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Play in the snow! Wait....swim in the pool playing "fish". Or maybe going on long hike in the mountains...sheesh I have had so many fun things with my boys.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
ME!

Married

Hi Mary ~ When I was looking for a doodle, I looked all over the US and then decided to go with a WA breeder if I could find one that had the breeding lines that I wanted and I also preferred to pick up rather than have it flown in. I had already decided on an ALD because after much research found that their coats and characteristics where more consistent within the breed than the American doodles. I chose Manor Lakes up near Bellingham because I like the looks and background of her breeding dogs. I was looking for a medium size chocolate and she was having a litter soon. They do choose your puppy for you depending on your family lifestyle etc. They do use bio-sensor testing on puppies at 7 weeks and then chose the family that best fits that puppy. Charlie was exactly I was looking for and he is definitely my heart dog. He and Beau have the same father, but different mothers. If anything should happen where I no longer have either of the boys, I will probably go through the local breeder here in Richland and if you are looking for an ALD, you might check her out at HillsWestLabradoodles.com I found her after I had already put a deposit on Charlie - otherwise I would have gone with either HillsWest or Olympic Doodles in Gig Harbor and get another ALD. All that being said, there is nothing like watching a standard poodle strut around the yard, or chasing a ball! Wilbur (our poodle) loved to play hide n seek and was just so darn smart! I have heard there is a doodle breeder near Yakima somewhere - but I know nothing about them. I recently saw where someone in Seattle was trying to sell (or rehome) a goldendoodle that was so cute in the photo for $1,000. Maybe I saw that here on DK. Have you thought about rescuing? Good luck in your search when the time is right. If you are ever in this area (Richland), send me a text or call - I would love to meet up with you. 206-963-4281. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Hi Mary ~ I am so sorry to hear of your doodle passing - they are never with us long enough and when they do have to cross the Rainbow Bridge, it is very heart-wrenching! I notice you live in Yakima - we are in Richland Wa. We had a standard poodle for years and lost him about 3 years ago. I still miss him so much. We have two ALDs - Charlie a medium chocolate who will be three in Dec. and Beau, is a parti boy and 15 mos. When you get a chance be sure to check out the groups section on the main page and join as many as you like. Welcome to Doodle Kisses!
Sorry, no Walla Walla breeders around, at least none that i would recommend. I have an acquaintance that is a guardian home for a breeder in Tri cities and I've visited the one in Zillah. One of our doodles is a rescue from DRC.
Welcome Mary! Sorry to hear about your labradoodle's passing. We are pretty close to you...out in Walla Walla! Are you considering getting another doodle?
