Sorry to hear about digestive issues! Willow used to have soft stools too when she was little. You said you tried Orijen - did it help at all? Willow did much better on grain-free, and she was on Orijen large breed puppy formula. Also, have you tried dried yams or pumpkin? We give a piece of Sam's Yams after each meal. Probiotics should help especially after all the medications, but it was not an immediate cure.
No, my vet prescribed the panacur for 7 days and then we waited one week without meds and tested him again and he was again positive. Then she gave me metro for 10 days - waited one week and he his numbers were down, but still positive, so she did another round of metro for 10 days and waited a week to test and he was negative. She has since tested twice at one month intervals and he is now classified as totally negative. I have to tell you I was totally paranoid about picking up his feces immediately after he relieved himself, because I did not want my 2 year old ALD to get it too! I kept a gallon jug of a water/clorox mixture (1 part clorox to 40 parts water) that I would dowse on the area where he went to the bathroom to disinfect the area. My other doodle never contracted it and I was so darn happy. It is a real pain to get rid of. My vet does not see many cases of this where we live (Eastern WA). In the western side of the state is is quite prevalent because of the moisture. Hang in there and be vigil about picking up. As they get a little older I think their systems get stronger and they are able to combat it with the help of the drugs. I have heard of others that are trying to get rid of it with virgin coconut oil, and I believe a 1/2 tsp a day might help them, but I do not think it will cure them. Others may have had a different experience - I do not know. When I talked to Kim at Manor Lakes about Giardia, she suggested using the panacur with metro, but my vet did not want to do that. Beau is now 5.5 mos old and healthy as a little horse! You will get there too. By the way, your doodle is so darn cute!
Remembering back when he had diarrhea, at night I baby-gated an area in our bathroom, put his crate in that area with the door open, so he could get out to go pooh if he had too. When they have giardia they generally have diarrhea and I just could not lock him up in a kennel where it would get all over him. I did not want to have to keep bathing him because it dries out there skin so muh and I thought it was easier to clean up outside the kennel. I put a little pee pad down for him and he used that for several nights which also helped, but could then go back in his kennel to sleep on his clean blanket. Good luck.
Wow!! Which puppy did you get out of Ruby and Soupy litter? I got the only female from Ruby and Soupy.
Read my latest entry in your discussion about picking up a pup from the airport--there is really no way that the pup in that picture is 2 months old. They are born with very short coats and by 8 weeks their hair is about an inch long--not 4 inches long! I am concerned that you might be not getting what you expect. Putting a pup on an airplane and sending it to someone sight unseen can allow a breeder to do something unscrupulous.
