Well i live in a place just outside of Bundaberg on 5 acres. i have a husband ( who is not too keen on the new addition to the family) and a 9 month old son, Drew. We already have two Staffies and cant wait for the new arrival.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I have not received my "Doodle" yet ( we call them Groodles in Aussie) she will be arriving in Feb 2012. I joined this site to get a heads up on how to care for my new addition and get some helpful advice.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I fell in love with the doole when i met one down the beach, i had already wanted one but that sealed the deal for me he was just so beautiful and friendly and looked like a big teddy bear.

Thank you!! We got first pick of 6 males (he was a litter of 12! 6 boys, 6 girls) and I thought he was the cutest there. They were all adorable but some looked much like a Golden Retriever puppy, I was going for that teddy bear face that some Doodles have.
You must be very excited about your new puppy! In response to your question, how did I decide on an Australian Labradoodle?.. My thoughts on this are captured in this section of my website - http://www.leapfroglabradoodles.com/why-multigenerational-australian-labradoodles.html. I also have 3 family members with severe allergies to dogs and I wanted to adopt dogs that were as allergy friendly as possible (it worked :)).
In terms of preparing for your puppy, you will find some great information here on DK (see groups). Your breeder should also give you information on puppy care and puppy development to prepare you for your new arrival. I would recommend introducing your new puppy to your other dogs in a neutral location, allowing them to get to know each other a bit, and then bringing them home in the car together. As far as children and dogs go, it sounds like you know a lot already. I love Collen Pelar's book "Living with Kids and Dogs...Without Losing Your Mind." It is very practical and emphasizes management as well as training. Good Luck!!
