I read about your bad grooming experience, I'm so sorry. I experienced a similar thing, except that I was the one cutting Darwin's hair. (oops) It grows back and I am sure she still looks adorable!

Sorry you were upset by your grooming experience -- I've had Veruca professionally groomed twice and been unhappy with them both times. The first the groomer agreed she wasn't matted but said she still believes you should shave down "poodle mixes" because of the coat changes they go through -- so she COMPLETELY ignored what I wanted and did what she wanted. The second Veruca did have matting (behind the ears, collar area, and legs) they evaluated it and decided it would be shorter in those areas but they could work with it. Then I guess they changed their minds? They shaved her soooo short. They even shaved her tail and left this stupid long piece at the end (like a poodle would get, but her hair is flowing not puffy) Veruca had razor burns/clipper cuts on several spots on her santi area and belly :( She wasn't even matted there! She came home so stressed out she threw up in her kennel twice. Awful, Awful, Awful. The good news - it is JUST hair and it will grow back. Join the grooming group for advice on how to prevent matting and which brushes to own. Welcome to the site!

This is a great place to share about doodles. There are many groups that you can join. For example, there are groups for grooming, nutrition, health/medical, types of doodles, puppy groups etc. Look at the top of your page and click on Groups - check them out. Enjoy!

I just read your post on Black Doodles.I almost cried (literally) when I had to take my Simon into the groomer. I brushed him every night, but needed to be combing him, too (I did not know that). He has a spiral fleece coat and he was starting his puppy-to-adult coat change. Even with all my brushing, he was getting mats. He had such a gorgeous coat.....

Then he got cut down to about an inch long.....with a poodle head!

It grew out REALLY quickly. And even though he didn't look like my Simon, he was still adorable. When we'd go out ppl would stop me to ask the kind of dog he is. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting used to it until it grows back to where you like it. :-)
I'm sure your baby is still totally adorable!
