About Me:
My husband and I are senior citizens. We live in a small rural setting. We have always loved dogs, and I have had dogs in my household ever since a child.
My husband also has a lot of experience with animals, as he was a dairy farmer for many years, and I worked at the health department for 17 yrs, and also owned and operated an Adult Foster Care Home before retiring from outside-the home employment
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have a lt. apricot female golden doodle who just had her 6 month birthday, and she is such a joy. We have had her about 3 months and can't imagine life without her.
We also have two shelties, with one being a champion, and also a therapy dog. We just recently retired her from active duty as a therapy dog as she is 11 yrs old and arthritic.
The other sheltie is a stunning bi-black sheltie and is a rescue dog
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I met my first doodle while on vacation and immediately fell in love with them, so beautiful and definitely easy to train.
Abby the doodle I just bought is amazingly smart, show her something once and she has it. When I praise her for performing what I try to teach her, she looks at me like "I got it. already.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We love walking. She loves to walk, and I am on the 10,000 step a day program, so we do it together. And Play games with her many toys.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Haven't had to do that yet, other than combing and brushing about every other day.

Married

Shirley, Melissa lost her dog more than a year ago. That was an old discussion.

If she is only six months, she has plenty of time to mature out of the mouthy stage.  However, some dogs are always mouthy as it seems to be with my ALD.  He doesn't hurt, but he always has his mouth on everyone's hands.  I guess just his way of communicating.  It means that he cannot be a therapy dog, and it does bother some people who are not dog people, but we are used to him.  In most ways he seems very exuberant, so we just have to make sure he gets lots of exercise or he is right in your face.  He is an active one, but we love him (by the way, not the black phantom doodle).

Thanks, Shirley, for the nice comments about Fudge and Vern. I love the chocolate Doodles, too. Vern is so adorable, but he is always a mess. He rolls in everything and he should have come in another color....LOL!! Welcome to DK. There are lots of wonderful people on here that love all dogs.
