I am looking to get a doodle. I have had asthma all my life and even though I love animals, I get sick around them. I am hoping that a doodle will be just what I have been looking for.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?

Goldendoodles are usually cheaper than labradoodles. I think is is because they are 'newer' but I don't really know exactly. Multigenerational doodles cost more than first generations and there are fewer multigenerational Goldendoodles.
The training method we chose is Koehler. It is not a treat method which is very popular right now. There is also clicker training. Koehler is based on the assumption that the dog will choose the path of obedience if you show him what you want over and over and then expect them to do it and if they don't they are corrected - like a tug on the collar or replacing them where you told them to stay. Here is a link to information you could read. http://www.koehlerdogtraining.com/
It isn't little puppy socialization. It is obedience training. There were two 9 month old lab pups in our class who were wild - boy did they need work.
Gracie is from a breeder in San Diego. You have befriended Nancie Casey. Gracie belongs to her. You can ask her the name of Gracie's breeder. Nancie can also tell you if there are other doodlekisses members with goldendoodles from that same breeder and you can look at their pictures.
Hi Susie, I think you have me confused with someone else, I am not giving away doodles as a working dog or for disabled people, I only have one doodle and he is mine forever... Sorry I hope you find who you are looking for.
Susie, We got Ned who is a small medium or a tall mini (your choice) multigenerational Australian Labradoodle, in San Luis Obispo. His breeder has moved to Arkansas. Clancy really was a rescue - we think he was at the kill shelter in Moreno Valley as a puppy and abandoned again to the same facility. I see from reading below that you are getting some suggestions from local people about breeders. I see that you have befriended Nancie Casey and her Graciedoodle. They are personal friends and Gracie is just about the most perfect doodle I have ever met. At romps I have met othere doodles from the same breeder and each and every one of them was a great dog.Goldendoodles tend to be cheaper than labradoodles and are mostly first generations. If allergies are a serious concern, I would look for a first generation (F1) from a really reputable breeder, an F1B (first generation crossed back to a poodle, or a doodle that is 4th generation or more. There are some breeder members on Doodlekisses (not local) that I would love to have one of their doodle pups and next time I get one I will just save up my money, and travel to them. We just finished a 10 week training program with our guys and really feel like we learned a lot. We traveled to Ontario. The program is really, really good for rescues or dogs with issues - which ours don't have. We just like the no treats, teach the dog and then expect results manner of this program.
Welcome to doodlekisses!!! I noticed your post below regarding breeders. We have a 5 1/2 month old labradoodle who we bought from a breeder in Moreno Valley. She is crazy nice and her pups are adorable!! I know our puppy's mom is expecting her next litter around May 7th and deposits are being taken right now. The deposit is $100, the remaining balance is due when you pick your puppy up. The remainder would be $350. Totaling $450. Her prices are amazing and we couldn't be happier and more in love with our little Sadie. She doesn't shed at all!!! She is a little hyper but nothing a walk or 2 won't take care of. Let me know if you would like this breeders information. Thanks!!! Jennifer
I have not found my goldendoodle yet. I would like to know, which is better for my allergys, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Schnoodles? Which is less grooming work? Are these dogs hyper or calm? I want one, I just don't know which to get. Plus they seem very expensive. Anyone know of a good, reasonable breeder in California. They all seem very expensive to me. Do these dogs get along with other breeds of dogs well? Do they require a lot of time and attention?
