I live in Woolwich Twp, NJ (south Jersey). I have 2 doodles. I am married and have 2 boys.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have an F2, tan/red girl Goldendoodle. She turned 3 on Oct. 1st and her name is Roxy. We also have a tan/red boy Goldendoodle. He is 2 years old. He was born the end of July and his name is Swiper. They have stolen our hearts and we are so in love with both of them.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Rescue
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I like the low shedding aspect of a large dog as well as their temperament. They are such love bugs.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Play fetch, pretend to chase them, go for long walks, swim, snuggle and love on them.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Still looking for that perfect groomer so I'm doing it for now.
Relationship Status:
Married
Would you be willing to Dog Sit on occasion for other DoodleKisses members? (You are NOT committing to anything by saying yes - you are just saying you might be willing to do this if you were acquainted with the other member and the circumstances were right.)
Hi Tammie, A long time ago (maybe 2 years?) you asked me to notify you when the Les Poochs brushes are available again.....The company just launched the new Les Poochs brush a few weeks ago. They had been unavailable since late 2012. Anyways, I'm just going through my list of names (hundreds of them) that wanted brushes. They're available in the wide size now at the Doodle Country Store website (there's a link on my page) and I should be getting the regular-sized brushes in very soon. Thank you so much!! :-) Kemp.
Thanks Tammie....I will certainly let you know when I get the purple brushes....it might be a month or more but I do have them on order from the factory in Germany.
Thanks for asking about a Les Poochs brush for Roxy - she is so cute! Those puppy teeth are like razors aren't they? I hope she stops thinking your arm is a steak LOL - maybe give her a bully stick to chew on...She will grow out of that biting stage soon - My doodles used to bite me when they were being brushed, but it was all in a playful manner.
The brush variety I recommend for Roxy is the Green brush - these are available in two sizes (Regular and Wide)...Roxy appears to be large enough to require the Wide size for her overall body - the Regular size is handy as an accessory for brushing the ears, legs and tail.
After her adult coat is fully developed you might need to add the firm Purple brush for the longer and thicker adult coat. An adult fleece coat that is longer than 4-inches usually needs the Purple brush. I understand that you don't want to cut her coat, but eventually it has to be trimmed. At least twice per year trimming is the minimum depending on how short it is cut each time. I usually scissor trim my doodles' coats down to about 2-inches, it looks better than shaving it with clippers - just leave the head and tail longer than the rest of the body....I'm sure the "Grooming Group" here on DK will have a lot of helpful advice to offer.
I have the Wide Green brushes in stock....but the Purple brushes are sold out. I will be happy to notify you when our next shipment arrives from Germany. To order a brush online, please visit the Doodle Country Store website at www.doodlecountry.com - We offer free shipping within the USA. :-)
Tammie, that is a beautiful story. Your patience, determination and persistence was rewarded and Roxy gained a wonderful forever family.
I took Annie to Doggy Day Care yesterday at our Vets. I loaded up her sleeping blanket, some toys, her food etc and hauled it all over there because I wanted her to have familiar things around her. I filled one of her Kongs with treats and Peanut butter so she'd have something to occupy her when I went out the door. Although she started to follow me out the door one of the vet techs said "C'mon Annie!" and she went right with them. I picked her up about 4 hours later and she was happy to see me yet she wasn't traumatized by being away from me. I think she'll do just fine. They didn't even need the kong treat!
Hi Tammy! Roxy is beautiful. I love her coloring. We haven't figured out what color Annie is going to be yet. She started out solid black and now parts of her are turning silver and around her muzzle it is a silvery brown. Sometimes I wish Annie had some young kids to play with or at least another dog although she seems to be doing well. Sometimes she'll get a spurt and just run as fast as she can through the meadow just growling and picking up sticks along the way. It is so funny to watch. She runs in a big loop over and over jumping over rocks and whatever gets in her way! At the end of this month we have to board her for the first time ever. She'll be boarded for 2 nights, home for about 5 nights and then boarded again for about 6 nights. The Vet told me it is going to be more traumatic for me then it will be for Annie! I'm going to take her to the Vet (where she will be boarded) for the next few weeks one day a week for day care so she can be used to the staff and hopefully have some other dogs to play with. She loves horses. We have two horses and a donkey behind us and she goes and sits by the fence every day waiting for them to come. She is very skiddish around people and it takes her several times being around them before she will even let them near enough to pet her. I have just one neighbor that she will go to now.

How did you come to rescue Roxy?
Thank you Tammie for the compliment on Libby! She is truly "our" heart dog:)
