To honor the memory of Brooke Jackman, who at the age of 23 perished during the attacks on the World Trade Center, Paz and I worked at the Brooke Jackman Read-A-Thon at Barnes & Noble in Tribeca (Lower Manhattan, near the World Trade Center site) this past Saturday (Sept. 7), which is an event sponsored by the Brooke Jackman Foundation; this foundation has opened the door to literacy for so many children and moms we serve at the Brooklyn Family Justice Center, and it was our privilege to attend the event where Paz provided pet therapy support. After the event, I took Paz for a stroll to the duck pond on the esplanade near my apartment. Paz has never been quite sure what to think of the ducks, because they are definitely "urban ducks" in that they fearlessly approach Paz without any hesitation, often verbalizing their disapproval at his rather large appearance, and the fact that he doesn't respond by throwing them some bread! Paz gets so confused because he thinks they should throw him some treats! So on Saturday, there was a showdown, or staring contest, and ultimately both sides walked or "swam" away unscathed! I'm not sure if Paz has any hunting "genes" but obviously they are not dominant genes in that from Paz's perspective, ducks are just another being that inhabits Lower Manhattan where we live.

Oh, Paz, we need to teach you some proper duck etiquette - chase 'em, Paz, chase 'em right into the water and across the pond! Now, if they were geese, we might have a different answer.
Ned, Clancy and especially Gordie
He is so adorable! Those ducks are bad news - hold your ground. LOL

Good boy Paz. Never trust a duck :)
Looking adorable Paz. Keep those pesky ducks in line! Thanks for all that you do.
