My dear friend of 31 years spent the night and took me up to Mayo today. It was great therapy. Good friends know what you need.

Jess had a fever again in the morning but I am seeing the cycle -- it seems to go up after being in the OR and the poking around. He is cultured every day with results returning three days later, so far, no infection.
Ambient air and Tylenol took the fever down, but he is a little elevated tonight yet not enough to begin to treat. Latest report as of this post.

Both sides of the heart are continued to be supported on the "Centrimag" (bi-ventricular support) with the right side working some and nada from the left. Jess is very sedated, so no reaction to me at all these last couple of days. They place these pumps in children and I wonder why they can't close my husbands chest????

When my friend left I came home to an empty house. Phoebe (see, no one believed me that she was a small Doo) and Hobbes were out with the neighbors. I walked down a few blocks to find them and the entire family had the pooches. They brought me dinner and I opened some wine -- now WHY has it taken me three weeks to do that?

Sunday will be a day of rest -- Monday they will go in to clean him up, take another look and I pray finally be able to close him. Tuesday I am seeing a new doctor and saying adios to the doc who told Jess he was having acid reflux. Funny how he said he was coming to Mayo and never showed up....

Again, thanks for your continued support, anecdotes, and friendship. Hoping for a continued day of rest and healing for Jess and some positive news on Monday. Please kiss all your doodles on the nose for me -- I do take the time to look at your pics and I am in love with all of them!!!

Hoping Mr. Jess had a good Monday with no fever. I'm praying that 'no news is good news'. We're with you in spirit, Jan. Always.

Wine and Friends are great remedies to heavy hearts! Sorry I didn't comment sooner, but I hope Jess did well for his day of rest. Fever's are an inflammatory response to a stress on the body, so you're probably exactly right that it's after they go poking around. My anecdote for they day: I was bringing about 10 friends over to meet my "awesome puppy!". Unfortunately, my awesome puppy had a diarrhea accident in her crate and was COVERED in it! They didn't really want to play with her. :-( OH well, more puppy love for me. Hehe! Give Phoebe and Hobbes our love, and I hope Jess has a good monday.

Janet,
I am so thankful your friend stayed with you! It does help to be surrounded by people you care about and having someone to talk to! Thank you so much for taking the time to give us an update. I check several times a day to see if Jess has any change! We are still praying for you both!

A nice glass of wine to calm your thoughts is a wonderful thing to do. You need to be sure and take of yourself and Phoebe and Hobbs so that Jess will have one less thing to concentrate on besides getting himself better! You are in my prayers!

Although all of us on doodlekisses send you our love and caring from afar, I am so glad that you have such wonderful friends and neighbors to lend you support. I think it is a good idea to have some rest time for yourself. You need it for the long road ahead.

I am glad to hear that you took some time with a friend and little wine. You need your energy and your focus. Take your day of rest today, go to church and center yourself for the week ahead of you. Maybe take your dogs to the park and enjoy a day.

We all pray for you and Jess.

Glad the friends, Doodles and wine gave you some 'me time'.
I know why your MD didn't make it to Mayo or call you - lawsuit. He misdiagnosed and I wolud bet his attorney and/or insurance company told him not to have any contact with you. I am no MD or attorney but...
I think that MD's see a young, healthy lifestyle man or woman and just don't think it could be a cardiac issue.
Same thing with my husband when he had his stroke 7 years ago - he had a 'full' physical 2 weeks earlier. The only thing that the MD missed was taking his stethescope and listening to his carotid arteries. (hey, all DK members reading this - make sure your Doctors listen to yours EVERY time you go - even for a cold.) Had he done that, he would have had bypass in his neck and the stroke would have not happened - my life would be so different now. (Mark has no obvious signs of stroke to anyone who didn't know him 'before' but it is no picnic either.) Oo, hindsight is 20/20.
I am sure that your MD is having lots of sleepness nights also and I am just as sure that doesn't make you feel better. I would bet his attorney or insurance company told him not to have any contact with you at all but I would not be surprised if he checks on Jesse through the hospital.
I am thinking of you both all the time. As someone who as been in your shoes kind of energy being sent your way - inner strength!
