So Ollie and I have been hanging out for a month now, crazy right? He has become my best buddy (as many of you said he would...thank you) and we are doing really well. At 12 weeks Ollie weights a womping 16 lbs! He may be less of a mini and more of a medium, but we are okay with that.

My mom came to visit this past week, and though I was never able to have a dog as a kid, she (now not so) secretly loves dogs. She likened him to her childhood dog, Lonesome. I think he thought she was a new toy and just loved her (and trying to chew her arm off). We spent more time sitting on the kitchen floor then in any other room in the apartment. He was a big goof. He tilts his head from side to side before jump attacking. We were laughing for hours.

Besides his occasional hyper times, Ollie and I enjoy sitting together, playing tug, and he is starting to get the hang of fetch. His favorite thing is to sit on my lap with a chew toy (my favorite thing is when I get him out of the crate and pick him up...it's kind of like he hugs me). We know "sit,""wait"(though I have been calling it "stay"), and we are doing so much better with house training.

He has also made some new doodle friends. His buddies Cosmo, Knox, and Shelby have adopted Ollie into their group and they do so well with him. I am so thankful for their moms. Last night Ollie spent a couple of hours playing with Shelby. They ran around, play wrestled, and Oliver learned how to use the water spigot. He had such a great time playing with Shelby.

Today we had our 12 week shots and check up. He did a great job, and is now asleep on the kitchen floor. What a busy 24 hours!

I'm so happy that things are going so well. I remember those early puppy bonding days - they are so special. Enjoy every moment!!

Ollie is such a sweet punkin! He will be the star of his obedience classes. As you are teaching him stay and wait, we learned something very helpful from Owen's trainer that we never knew before. She says "stay" means the dog is not to get up... you are to return to the dog. "Wait" means stay there until I call you. I'm having a little trouble being consistent but it makes so much sense to me.  This morning I managed to make a mess of the back yard with the hose before I was going to wash Owen's feet (he digs, bad habit). I told him to "stay" on the deck while I was trying to get control of the flying hose. He sat perfectly still. I was so proud of him (and my daughter who is doing most of the training). I don't know if this is helpful to you, I just thought it was interesting.
