A Proud Doodle Mom - Just Had to Share
Tonight was our 2nd Sedar. My Dad, StepMom, Sister, BIL with their 2 sons, 8 & 6 and DH neice, her husband and their 20 month old son were here + the 5 of us.
My Dad uses a walker. Instinctually Samantha was so careful around him when he was up and walking - making sure she didn't get in his way. When he sat she just brought her ball over to him, dropped it in his lap and just patiently waited for him to throw it to her. The difference with him was she just sat quietly waiting. When it is anyone else, she stands in front of you starring at you until you throw the ball. She showed so much patience with him.
With Jacob, the 20 month old, she was so incredibly gentle with him. She allowed him to 'chase' her around the kitchen round and round the kitchen island. He fed her chicken and she barely touched him with her lips. Whenever he came up to her she just stood there quietly and patiently while he petted her.
I think Samantha is ready to become a Therapy Dog. She really made me proud tonight and I just wanted to share with my DK family. We really have very special dogs - I feel very lucky to have found Samantha!

Adrianne, Aren't dogs just wonderful!!! I only wish that people who don't understand dogs could appreciate moments like you exprienced the other night. Samantha sounds like a wonderful dog! Her instincts are very keen and so right on!!! I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Passover. Betsy

I think that she has an amazing doodle Mom and Dad. Lucky Samantha!! I bet Samantha would be a great therapy dog. Sounds like you had such a nice family holiday including your Samanta.

Oh Adrianne, I agree with you about Samantha being a Therapy dog. If she was that intuitive and careful, it sounds like she sure is ready to give it a try!
