I found this poem on the Lucky Dog Rescue website: http://luckydogrescueblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/why-i-write.html and I thought about Felicia who is now living in a happy and safe furever home and decided to combine the poem with some images of Felicia, how she was when we received her and how she is now!...

A POEM TO MY FOSTER DOG, BY Diane Morgan

I am the bridge,
Between what was and what can be.
I am the pathway to a new life.
Felicia on arival

I am made of mush,
Because my heart melted when I saw you,
Matted and sore, limping, depressed
Lonely, unwanted, afraid to love.

Felicia running with toy

For one little time you are mine.
I will feed you with my own hand.
I will love you with my whole heart.
I will make you whole.

Felicia and her forever family...

I am made of steel.
Because when the time comes,
When you are well, and sleek,
when your eyes shine,
And your tail wags with joy
Then comes the hard part.

Roxy, AKA Felicia

I will let you go—not without a tear,
But without a regret.
For you are safe forever--
A new dog needs me now.

Oh that is so true! All of our foster babies have such a special part in our hearts. I'll never forget them, even though there are many. Such a beautiful picture you've painted with your words!

Richard, you made me weep with the beautiful poems and pictures.  Blessed are those who foster for all four-footers will know they are special people.

Here's one I wrote tonight...

A Rescue Dog’s Story

By Richard Crowe

I was scared, I was lonely

and I wanted only:

someone to love, who would also love me…

I did not believe that I’d ever leave

The shelter I lived in

I would never be free…

The angel appeared and into my cage she peered

She smiled at me

And I heard her say…

“I’m glad we have met and this you can bet…

It’s no more shelter life for you,

because I’m taking you away…"

"I’m Maltese Rescue and here’s what I do

I find loving homes for little dogs like you

And I’ll find you one I guarantee…"

"I love all dogs be they pretty or plain,

You may be damaged and racked with pain

I love you as you are and for what you will be…"

"She bathed me and groomed me

And she eased my pain

And then my world became happy again"

“My name is your Foster and here’s what I’ll do

I’ll find you a person that you can love

But, I’ll make sure that person will also love you.”

And she did.

One day I met my Furever Mom

Who cried when she saw me and Foster cried too..

Mom held me and kissed me and told me don’t fear

That I’ll never be lonely

She’ll always be near…

This is beautiful, Richard.  The images alone tell the story.  Wonderful job coordinating your pictures with the poem.
