Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi, I'm not sure if anyone saw my previous post but I'm hoping to get some feedback on airline approved in cabin pet carriers; if all goes well, I'm hoping to pick up a standard size labradoodle puppy in November. I will be flying from NYC to North Carolina to pick up the puppy and the puppy will be accompanying me in the plane cabin. Sherpa carriers are airline approved in the small and medium size. The medium can accomodate a puppy weighing up to 16lbs; as the puppy will be just over 8 weeks old, this should work. Wonder if anybody had experience with this and any suggestions.

Thanks Lynda, that is reassuring.
I haven't weighed her, but she is a standard-sized sheepadoodle and fit just fine in the medium carrier. She is the same size as a standard-sized labradoodle. How old is your puppy? Eight to ten weeks should be fine.
Thanks Linda, do you recall how big your puppy was when you brought it home. I'm concerned because mine will be a standard size labradoodle puppy, so I just hope the medium works.
I just brought my puppy home in a sherpa carrier (medium sized). Advice - get a window seat because the under-seat area is larger. The carrier does not fit under the aisle seat. It cost $100 to bring a puppy on Alaska Airlines and I guess it depends on the carrier. I know United and Alaska do allow puppies for an extra charge. If they do not fit under the seat, they need to go in a cargo carrier in the belly of the airplane. Puppies should all fit in a sherpa carrier under the seat.
Thumbs up!
Hey Linda, I think I got it. Thanks so very much.
Thanks Linda, will do. I'm just a bit confused as to how I post a discussion versus a blog. Sorry.....
Hey Charley, I would suggest you post this as a discussion instead of a blog as not as many people seem to read the blog posts. Good luck :)
