Where did the time go, right? I'm still exhausted when I think of our first few months together.

Those of you who were telling me 2 years ago that the difficult puppies are always the ones who will make you smile later on, were completely right. He is one of those eternal puppies, a never-aging dog. Very silly, playful, and just a love bug. He does not chase balls, unless there is a ball he can steal from his brother. His favorite game is a chase. I want to put a collar on him so that we can go to the dog park and Auggie takes off and runs around the whole house having a blast thinking I'm going to chase him (usually Monty does that for me).

At the same time, he is very sweet and gentle. I would work on my computer at home, he would be asleep somewhere in the house. I would not hear him coming to my office, I would suddenly just feel a gentle touch of his cold nose on my arm. His way of saying: "Hi Mom, I took a nap, but I'm back now."

Auggie loves to pester and keep an eye his older brother Monty. They love to rough house together, but when I take Monty to the groomer and come back home without him, Auggie sits in front of the garage door waiting for Monty. I have to let him go into the garage and even open the car door so that he can see Monty is not there.

Auggie is a sweetheart. He is happy as a clam and full of personality.

We had some stormy weather last night. Monty is not a big fan of thunder, so he jumped up on our bed in the middle of the night. Although Auggie is not scared of storms, he probably did not want to be left out and jumped up on the bed as well. Normally, they both settle down by our feet, but this time Auggie made his way towards me, plopped down in the middle of the bed and put his head on my chest. He's never done that before. It was shortly after midnight and I was very sleepy. But I could not help it and remained awake for the next hour just listening to his breathing and enjoying the closeness.

I love you, Auggie doggie! Happy Birthday, sweet boy!

This video sure made me smile --and Auggie, I hope you smiled all day long.  Happy Birthday!  I can't believe you're 2 already!! (Jarka, that last sentence really made me smile -- you've got two beautiful boys and they've got a great mom :)

Auggie says thank you for all the B-day wishes! I know for many of you it just feels like it was not long ago that we got Auggie. It's because I made it into such a drama! Now I know it was not him, there was nothing wrong with puppy Auggie. I was me. Thank you again for helping me out during that time. Being a first time dog owner is not easy. You fall in love with the first dog, then can't help but compare once you add the second one. I've learned a LOT from all of you. Adding a third one will be a breeze....LOL. I would if I could. But there is something called full time employment. Grr, whoever came up with that idea! Life is too short. I would rather spend it around doodles. I have a plan that as soon as we win the lottery, we'll build a house on a few acres....and we will become a part of DRC saving and fostering doodles. How about that!

I truly love both of my boys. They are so different in so many ways, but both of them are very special. And a secret that you've probably not expected to hear from me: if Auggie were my first dog, I would say he's the best puppy ever. :-)
