Bad Hair Cut :(

We have had Hudson home for about a month now and he needed a few things done. I noticed the fur between his paw pads was getting really long, also the bum fur was.. well.. getting in the way of doing his business! I have a friend (not a good friend, more of an aquaintance) who owns a grooming business, and since Hudson is not done his shots I thought I would get her to come to my home and do some grooming for me. Right away she told me that she couldn't just shave the problem areas (stomach/bum/paws) and leave the rest, as it would look terrible. I assumed this meant she would blend them into his coat? She told me to trust her and that he would look great. She asked that I leave the room (it was making Hudson more nervous with me there) so I did... and when I came back in my fluffy adorable labradoodle had been completely SHAVED! He does not look like the same dog. I held it together, paid her, and when she left I couldn't help but cry! I am not one for confrontation so when she asked if I liked the length I just said 'its ok..'. Hubby is not impressed that I paid $80 for something I am completely unhappy with. I had asked her if she had groomed labradoodles before, I just don't understand why she would want to shave him down so short?! I will try to add a pic when I get one. I have seen many pics of dogs going through coat change who get matted and need to be shaved, thats what he looks like. Even his head poof is gone. Going to go cry now....

He looks so cute! And I would be the first to tell you and offer my sympathy if he didn't. Like Caitlin said, he isn't as shaved as he could be by any means. When you see pink skin you have a shaved dog. He looks so neat and clean and it will grow SO fast, take it from me as i groom my own and it seems like I just did him and he needs it again!

Oh my gosh he is adorable. I've seen a lot of parti's that are dark colors and white, I haven't seen nearly as many with the honey color and white. So handsome! His eyes look almost hazel...

Candy, I have to tell you that Hudson looks ADORABLE! Even shaved down he's just the cutest thing. That said, don't feel bad at all. I'd predict that 80% of the doodle owners on this site have had terrible first grooming sessions. You can find many of the stories on the grooming section of the site. LOL. But check it out - it's a great forum for learning how to tell you groomer what you want, and lots of tips to make both you and Hudson happy in the long run. And don't worry - it's gonna grow out in NO TIME!

OMG! I just saw the picture!! Hudson looks precious!! It really is nearly impossible to make a doodle look bad!! :) But you can make them look REALLY different!!

Candy I felt the same way after Tara's "naked" shave. I haven't taken her back to a groomer and have since given her a scissor cut. I was pretty happy with the outcome but it took me FOREVER!! So I just finished ordering a clipper, blades and combs for the next attempt!! I agree with you completely-the worst that can happen is that she will look like she does after the groomer gets done with her!! :)

I think Hudson looks ADORABLE! It'll grow back as you know....but honestly he looks darling!
