Since Luna has been housebound due to her allergies, she has been driving us a little crazy with her extra energy... and lately, her exuberance has turned into LOTS and LOTS of barking.

It's like she has decided that since she's mostly confined to the house, the world needs to know she's still in the neighborhood...

She's been barking at strange shapes blowing in the wind in the back yard... her toys... us... you name it, she barks at it!   Hence she has earned her first nickname... barkypants.  When we ask her to stop, she "wuffs" quietly, as if to say "ok I'll be quieter, but I'm still going to bark in protest".

Yesterday we went for a dinner at my DH's parents' house.  Luna always comes along - she loves "grandma and grandpa".  They always give her a nice fresh beef bone (minus the marrow) and a few little treats.  She also LOVES their back yard, partly because they keep a large supply of sticks that are to her liking... but also because lots of wild animals and local cats seem to frequent their yard.  I think you may know where I'm heading with her second nickname... poopyhead... and no, it's not this:

Read on... if you dare!

Luna has a history of mischief...

...Yesterday was no exception.

We let Luna out in grandma and granndpa's yard and she found herself at a nice corner of the yard away from the door.  We were watching her and she starts rolling on the ground... "oh no!" we thought, she has allergies and we don't want her rolling outside.

Grandma goes outside to investigate and bring her in... and starts doing this odd dance where she goes to grab Luna, quickly backs away... circles Luna some more and goes in for another grab.  Meanwhile DH is saying "Uh oh... that's not good".  Grandma shows up at the door yelling my name saying "LUNA NEEDS A BATH, RIGHT NOW".  We open the door and Luna is absolutely COVERED in the most FOUL smelling wildlife poop I have ever smelled.  It had just rained that morning and apparently it allowed Luna to spread it over her ENTIRE back and chest.

We didn't have any dog shampoo on hand, so I had the dubious honors of washing her first with Spongebob Squarepants bubble bath (we couldn't find the baby shampoo)... then after the first round, we found the baby shampoo and washed her again (she still smelled...).  This morning I washed her a THIRD time with her own allergy shampoo, since the first 2 didn't quite do the trick.

DH has dubbed Luna Barkypants Poopyhead for the duration of the week with good reason.  I'm sure the name won't last... it's hard to be mad at this face for long!

I'm almost ashamed at myself for laughing so hard, J. Poor you! But yeah, that face ... who could stay mad for long?
