First we would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers for Beemers recovery. It has been a blessing to get up every morning (vote for the DRC) and then read all the get well greetings. I have read them to Beemer and I know he is loving every one of them....thank you all.

Well it has been 1 week since the surgery and all is going very well. Beemer's gate has improved and he continues to put more weight on his surgery hip (left). He now has pain pills only when he needs them, which is difficult, because he doesn't give us any indication...so we just kind of guess. We put ice packs on his hip 5 times a day, but occasionally we allow him to sit in the snow on the deck for a minute or two. He will get his stitches out on Friday and we have scheduled his next surgery for March 17th. He has tried to play with Comiskey but we can't allow that...so for now we are his playmates!...Daddy continues to sleep in the x-pen at night with Beemer and Comiskey...what a sight! Beemer is allowed to exercise where ever there is carpet (so he won't slip). His appetite is good and has not had one potty accident. He always rang the bell on the door knob to go out....now he goes and pokes the sling with his nose to go out.

Had a scare the other day....Daddy had gone upstairs to get some better sleep...I was making breakfast for Comiskey and Beemer...I turned to put his breakfast in the x-pen and no Beemer! It seems he decided (with the help of Comiskey, I would guess) that it would be better to be upstairs with Daddy. I caught him just as he made it to the living room!.....no stairs...but he did walk on the hardwood floor by himself...naughty boy....so now his nickname is Houdini.

More later......

Glad to hear that all is going well! I'm sure it is going to get harder and harder to keep him quiet as he starts feeling better and better but you guys sound determined and he couldn't be in better hands. We continue sending our positive thoughts and energy your way! Hang in there.

Thanks so much for the update. It sounds like Beemer is on the right track and getting stronger each day. This must be quite a strain on you and "Dad". I know it's all worth it, but you must be so tired. I'm sure sleeping in the x-pen is no treat, and just trying to watch him every minute must be stressful. You are great Doodle Moms and Dads, and he is so lucky to have you. Guinness says "high five (are there five?)" for the escape attempt - I told him that's not funny and Beemer needs to listen to his Mom & Dad, but I don't think he was listening.
