Today Comiskey turns 5 years old. Although at times she was a challenge...she has brought us such joy. We love you our "little sweetie girl"....Happy Birthday

For all of you that followed Beemer's story, I though you deserved an update. It is with great pride that I am able to tell you he is "perfect". He run's like the wind, jumps like a rabbit and even dances on his hind legs. It is hard to believe it has just been one year since the second hip was corrected. The whole process was quite a challenge, but worth every ounce of energy it took. Everyday he brings us such joy and our hearts swell every time he snuggles with us and ever so gently…

Well we are at the end of June and half way through July...as told to us by the surgeon...Beemer has now completely recovered from his surgery and it is like all of this never happened...He runs like the wind and jumps on Comiskey, like a dive bomber. His coat is back to normal and he acts more like a puppy than ever before...He is still very attached to his "Daddy" and we still spend most of our time sitting on the floor...because both dogs like it that way!...He loves his… Continue

We are the happiest people on the planet right now!.....Beemer got released from the doctor today....he now has "primo hips"...The doctor said that both hips have healed very well...he said Beemer's muscle tone is excellent...he can now go for 15 minute walks, 3 times a day....he get's to be groomed....AND (this one is for Karen & Jack, Leslie & Halas)....he may be able to go to the Paw Pad Doodle Romp after all.
I actually saw all of the x-rays today....it was worse than I…

What a difference a week makes....our little Beemer is wagging his tail (must be kind of hard because he wags his whole back end!). He had his stitches out today and the vet said everything looks great. You can no longer see the scar on his left hip and by next week you won't be able to see the one on the right hip either....The most difficult part is the healing process will take quite a while longer and once you don't see those scars you kind of forget...except for the funky haircut....but…

Well, we have made it through week 1 on the second hip.....This time around it has been much tougher on Beemer. Although the first hip is healing very well....it has been only 5 weeks....so he struggles to use that one as his good hip while trying to understand why the other hip is not working as well. He spends most of his days sleeping and his appetite has diminished greatly....We sat on the deck with him yesterday as it was so warm....but his x-pen seems to be the place his feels the most…

We have all made it to the end of week four with Beemer's left hip surgery....but now we must do his second hip.
The follow-up x-ray showed that his left hip is healing very well....that combined with his muscle tone, allowed the doctor to do the second surgery yesterday. Beemer was again an excellent candidate for the same surgery (TPO) on his right hip, which made us happy because the success rate is so great. The right hip was adjusted by 40%, as was the left hip....so his gate should be…

We are now at the end of week three and Beemer is amazing! He is walking without a limp and is very hard to keep down. The rules are that he is allowed very little activity but he can walk around. Yep, try to tell a doodle that everything that is fun in his life is off limits....running...jumping....playing tug....resting on anything that is above floor level.... But he has been very good about it all. His scar is healing nicely...in some spots almost gone.
I was thinking this morning…

Well we survived our second week. It seems like months. Beemer is doing very well. Last Friday he had his stitches out and the nurse said every thing look good. Beemer
has not had to wear his e-collar…not once.
Of course, he has been under 24 hour surveillance…so not much chance of
getting away with anything.
His scar looks amazingly well. It started out as this big…

First we would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers for Beemers recovery. It has been a blessing to get up every morning (vote for the DRC) and then read all the get well greetings. I have read them to Beemer and I know he is loving every one of them....thank you all.
Well it has been 1 week since the surgery and all is going very well. Beemer's gate has improved and he continues to put more weight on his surgery hip (left). He now has pain pills only when he needs…

My name is Comiskey and I am a compulsive hoarder.
It all began when I got my first stuffed toy at the age of 8 weeks. It was love at first sight and once I dismembered it into little pieces I found it to be a treasure. Each little bit became a “chewy”. You know the little bits that you can chew like gum and spit out when you are done. Well I began to save them…then it was on to other de-stuffed toys….plastic water bottles (they make great noise) and it finally escalated to socks and…

Well this is my last post on that whole "neuter" thing.....it was a long 2 weeks...but I finally went back to the vet and got the O.K. to really rough house....one catch....a couple of the inside stitches had popped through so the vet had to snip them and I got a little irritated (mentally and physically)...but in a couple of days all will be well again....here's the rub....my Mom said I STINK!...can you tell the "oh, poor baby" attitude is…

First I would like to say thank you for all the well wishes upon my recent neutering....The stay at the hospital was not so bad...the staff just loved me and threatened to keep me...but my folks finally came to spring me on Tuesday morning....good thing to cause the WiFi connections were not that great....I am not sure what this whole neutering thing is, but I now have what looks like thread attached to my body in a spot I am not to fond of…
