So Allie had her first haircut yesterday. I almost cryed when I picked her up. She was so unique before and now I think she looks like a poodle. DH kept calling her a poodle this morning. Anyway I keep telling myself it will grow out. I think from now on I am going to just get her face cut and let the rest grow out. The groomer said I had done a good job with keeping her brushed because she did not find any matting so I think it is doable. Here are her before and after pictures.

Been there, done that. The first hair cut is always traumatic for the owner, not so much the dog. Brody went there looking like a wookie and came home a poodle.

I almost accused the girl of giving me the wrong dog until I saw his collar.

When I took Cali to a groomer, she came back shaved and with a poof on the top of her head. (We had gotten another puppy at the time, and I totally slacked on brushing...my fault!) I didn't really mind the shave so much as this giant poof they left on the top of her head. I took scissors to it later that night and cut it down a little so there wasn't so much of a difference between her body and her head. I thought she looked so much better after I did it!

She's adorable! I think she still looks doodley. She's just a little poofy now since it's right after a grooming, but the hair on her head will probably start to look a little more like what you're used to in a few days. You could maybe spritz a little water on it if you want to get rid of some of the poofiness.

I think it is the poofy head that has me in a tither. I have a good mind to take some scissors to it but I am scared of the outcome. I just want it to hurry up and grow!!!!!

She is cute no matter what, but I know the feeling. I get it every time I take Winston to the groomers. I even take in pictures, which helps, but still don't always get the hair cut I seem to have in my head. Winston doesn't seem to care, so I guess that is all that counts.

I love how Allie looks - remember that she has a lot of poodle in her (more than Peri), so she is going to look poodlier! But I would know she is a doodle if I saw her. For sure!

I don't want to burst your bubble, but I have a feeling that a lot of what was cut off (the more straight hair) was her puppy coat and it isn't coming back the same. Our Sophie was somewhat straight waves and they just kept getting longer and longer. I finally, right around her 2nd b-day, got up the nerve to take the clippers to her ..... much wavier underneath, but I love her look. I'm guessing she can get longer, but it is going to be curley. Regardless, she is adorable!

We've all been there! Allie is adorable in the "before" AND "after" pictures, and it grows so quickly.
