Even though I regularly home cook fresh foods, buy organic treats, or make the liver treats, skin and core apples and give carrots and fresh veggies as treats, buy turkey dogs, low fat yogurt and generally spend more time and money on our dogs food than our own, our Bella still not only continues to eat her own poop, (must be tasty with all the good food in it, huh?) But now she has gotten into the habit of eating any tissue she can lap up before I catch her. And she is so darn quick, quiet and sneaky about it that I had no idea how much tissue she has consummed until I go pick up her poop (before she eats it). It is filled with tissue! Long jute like stings of it!!!! So much of it that I had to PULL a 6" piece of it out as some was hanging from her butt!!!! WTD???
So the bathroom trash baskets are up, the Bitter Lemon is at the ready and we are earnestly now adding tissue to our "leave it" training! She is sure a character! Gotta love her tho.

LOL!!! Okay, that is ONE award we want to prevent her from winning!!
The bitter apple worked well for Tara to the point that even if she SMELLED it she would leave the area. So maybe once The Princess decides she REALLY doesn't like vinegar just the smell will keep her away. Yes, it sounds like this case requires a multi-faceted approach-hocus pocus, vinegar and "leave it" sound like a good combo.
I can try that Ricki, I have been using the bitter apple in the trash container, but that hasn't really stopped her. I don't know what the magic amount of vinager will be, but I guess we can start with the spray and go from there. Heck, I'd pour the whole bottle in the trash bin and put up with the smell in the bedroom if it would help. i am going to go to bed now and use my super animal communicator skills and discuss this issue with her mentally. Then continue with my leave it training. I must admit, she did walk away from the poop at the dog park once before she ate it when I yelled at her to leave it. Maybe that dog didn't have such a gourmet diet so she wasn't as tempted at first. She is just such a little dodo addict. There you go...HDA...Hopeless Dodo Addict. New catagory and she deserves the trophy!
Looks like the little princess doesn't like vinager!!! Now how do I get all my tissues to be soaked in vinager?
Yes, ladies,, she is being a ROYAL pain! and No, the hocus pocus didn't work for long. Maybe you are supposed to repeat yourself every night or something? I will try the vinager, but I have a feeling she will like it. I can just see her thinking " Oh mom put salad dressing on my tissue salad, yeah!". I have ordered the additive for the coprophagy. Got the extra strength stuff.
Today at the dog park she picked up another dogs poop so now I am REALLY pulling out all the stops. It's one thing to eat hers, and even one thing to eat Murphy's as I know they are healthy dogs, but it's entirely another thing to be eating a stranger's poops. That just is wrong on so many levels.
She is just so darn cute it's what's saving her from being returned to her mother who taught her this nasty habit!!!! :)
WTD is going on with that little Princess??? Doesn't she know she is being a"royal" pain???:)
Sounds like the hocus pocus didn't work out after all!! Darn!! This girl is a challenge and she isn't even a teenager yet!!
I should not have been eating a bowl of cereal when I read this..... Yuck... I know that they make something you can put in a dog's food that makes their poop taste awful to them. I have no idea what it is and how it works but my friend uses it for her dog and he stopped eating poop..
Bleak...
Jack does have a thing for paper towels though... I cured him of that by putting paper towels soaked with vinegar in the bathroom garbage as well as the regular garbage, He has not touched one since. I no longer use the vinegar he just remembers and associates it with a gross taste.
