Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
HI everyone, it's been awhile. Lots going on and no time to keep up. So I was off work quite awhile before finding a new job, lots of doodle time, extra yard play, walks and potty breaks. Then it happened...I got a job at a hospital and had 2 weeks before I actually started. I spent a lot of that time snuggling with my girls, they were used to having me around all day and then all of a sudden they are alone all day long. I leave in the morning and I see Chloe poke her head out the blinds (mostly shut due to the hot weather) and she watches me drive away. It kills me inside! Just want to turn around and take them with me! Anyway, emotional rollercoaster, to be honest I cried all night the day before I started. DH thought I was "EXAGGERATING" I wish I was.
So I spend my first day in orientation and couldn't check my cell phone messages. I get out and find 3 messages from my mom saying she called an ambulance (again) and was in the ER. So here we go again, happy to have started my job, scared for my mom and asked why now? Why not when I was off to help her? She had to have a blood transfusion (anemia) and they told her she would be admitted because she has congestive heart failure. Let the worry and stress begin. I could not miss any work, yet I was so worried about what was happening with her. So I had a full week of learning a new job, stopping by her house to feed her cat. Going to the hospital and finally coming home and trying to figure out all the notes I took that day. It's hard enough getting back into things without all these extras. Anyway, these are some of the main reasons I haven't been signed on for awhile. I always wonder what's happening on DK, but no chance to squeeze that in.
The thing that's getting to me is when I come home and find the doodles snuggling and watching movies with DH I get jealous. It's like they forgot about me:( plus all the stuff that needs to get done, takes more time away) Anyway, my mom was home after a week and she's "ok" Still trying to settle into a schedule and wondering if my doodles feel any of the things I am? I seriously don't know how a mom goes back to work after maternity leave. Am I Pathetic?
On another note, we finally found a new vet!!! We found a pretty good lump on Myla's tail and wanted to go somewhere new. I knew we were missing out while staying with our vet. I thought I was in another world! The Dr spent time with us, got down on the floor to pet both dogs! (Chloe came along to meet them and support Myla) He said it was a fatty cyst, doesn't seem serious but gave us an estimate if we want to remove it. He said it was "elective" so doubt Pet Plan would cover any of it. It doesn't seem to bother her, but we wanted to make sure it wasn't serious. The Dr. kept on saying what good shape our dogs have and how healthy they are. So for the first time I wrote a review and a thank you note to the vet. It DID cost more, but totally worth it!
I look forward to bedtime to snuggle with my doodles! I hope I didn't miss too much, this weekend I'm going to try to look back and see what's happened. Thank you for the birthday wishes! What a bunch of cute doodles on the rescue page!

Jennifer, I'm sorry that things have been so difficult and hectic, but it sounds like your Mom is improving and that's great news. This is a big change for you and it's going to take some time.....your Doodles will be fine as long as they have plenty of snuggle time with Mom at night. Happy Birthday....sorry I missed it.
So glad you found work and a new vet. A really good vet you can trust is priceless. You will get back into the routine again. It does sound though like it is going to up and down with your mom. All of us will deal with or have dealt with aging parents with health issues. It is a tough time, but also sometimes unexpectedly happy too. It is a part of living. My husband and I and our kids are so fortunate to have my husband's mom alive and healthy at 91. She is amazing and has been a joy to us all. This last winter when she was with us, she had a bout of what she calls "her cough" and is actually a flare up of CPD. She goes long spells with no problems and then bam... she goes from healthy to really ill in a matter of a day or two. Scares me to pieces. But sure enjoy her when it clears up, although it sometimes takes months.
Keep an eye ( or a hand) on Myla's tail. If it gets bigger or sore you might to have it removed. See Regina and Hurley's story
There you are! Here I was hoping that you were off on some fabulous vacation in an exotic location! I am glad your mom is on the mend and I hope you can quickly adjust to working life. Hugs to Chloe and Myla.
I am sorry getting back to work was so stressful and that your mom was ill. But I'm really happy that you found a job. I hope you and your DH can find a way to share duties at home now that you are both working. Good luck on the new job and welcome back.
It's so nice to have you back Jennifer! Wow, what a crazy time you are going through! Hope your mom continues to improve and you settle into the new job quickly! Tara sends Chloe and Myla a Doodle Hug!
Welcome Back Jennifer. I've missed you. Glad to hear your update. Sorry working is such a heartache. It makes coming home so much better though when you have sweet dogs to return to at the end of the day. Hope the job is settling and your mom finds herself in much better health soon
